Do they make a Jake brake kit for the 3412ta? I’ve never worked on or seen a truck with a 3412dita outside of mining equipment and large generators
@G2Customs Жыл бұрын
No, not a Jake, this one has three braking systems: the air brakes, an after turbo exhaust retarder that does not add much braking power, and 😃 a three stage KLAM electric (kinetic) retarder that is mounted on the drive line behind the transmission. The KLAM is controlled by a lever on the dash, it is a very powerful braking system.

Interesting wheelbase / drop axle configuration; what was he hauling?
@G2Customs Жыл бұрын
it looks short because the hood was extended 10 inches and the cab moved back 10 inches... the engineers didn't want it to be any longer than necessary to keep the weight down and the frame flex to a minimum

There were only a couple of these CAT V12 powered trucks ever built, back in the late '90's They are custom built on a Peterbilt 379 glider chassis. Double framed to handle the weight and torque/twist. It is unlikely that anyone will ever build another one

The Peterbilt model 379 was built starting in 1987 and was discontinued in 2007. This truck was custom built. No manufacturer, including Peterbilt, ever built a truck with a V12 CAT. There were some trucks that came from the factory that had V12 Detroit engines, the 12V71

Wel, you drunk asshole I been around trucks all my life and I do know what 3412 weights. So show it not hide it under hood maybe somebody can believe you did it. Plus 12,000 pound axle not going to last. Plus you better have some rearends that can hold. 46,000 pound rears still not big enough.. You never get tires to last long either I not jealous just think if someone going put something like that together better be ready with a big check to keep it running
