Wow that's was Graf's 20th grand slam at age of 27. Do you think it ever be broken? No. Serena achieve that feat in 33 years 9 months, Federer in 36 years 5 months, Rafa in 34 years 4 months & Djokovic in 33 years 2 months. That's huge difference. Now it was Graf's 46 grand slam tournament. Meanwhile Serena took 59, Rafa took 60, Nole took 65 & Fed took 72 grand slam tournament to win their 20th slam. Amazing Steffi!

It's a great milestone and Steffi is one of a kind. I will disagree and will not compare men's and women's as if they are equal and the same. If men's GS were best of three we would see the GOAT's totals in the 40s.

@@therealkolluri I disagree. If men's final were best of 3 sets then big 3 especially Novak would have less slams. It's difficult to beat big 3 especially Novak & Rafa in bo5 set than in bo3. Example Novak would have lost to Tsitsipas in 2021 French open or lost to Sinner in 2022 Wimbledon QF matches etc. Infact Novak openly admitted that he is tougher to beat in bo5 set format than from bo3 set format

On clay yes, but I wouldn’t be so confident on hard or grass. Serena’s serve at her prime is 2-3 free points per service game (aces or service winners) and one of the best return games ever.

@@jujumusique1305 Steffi won 37 hard court tournaments and had only 39 losses on that surface. Serena won 48 hard court tournaments but had a staggering 95 losses on that surface. It is not even close.

@@gary8306 LOL fool Graf already had all the slams multiple times even before the stabbing. And the only place Seles ever wins Wimbledon even without the stabbing is mixed doubles or on playstation. Even before the stabbing look at Graf making a fool of her in the 92 final. Still a great effort for Seles to make the final to get destroyed by Graf, as her overall record there shows making the final was a huge fluke. Usually she is losing to Studenikova, Testud, Lucic, Zvereva, or some other nobody in an early round.

Steffi - the most wonderful girl ever on a court! Arantxa - the most sympathetic girl in tennis! They are both are friends to this day, although they are completely different (or maybe that's why). Amazing match!

When Graf played so, only one with the temperament of Arantxa could not lose the second set to zero... Sanchez, like always, played a good match, but this time Steffi was too much difficult to stop. I think that for her the regret remain the final 95.

Good match. I am still not a fan of Sanchez-Vicario. Always questioning calls and that bathroom break was typical of her and even players of today, causing their opponent's to loose their momentum. Thankfully Steffi experience enabled her to get through the match.

Arantxa's game starting to look frazzled by 1996. She'd had three excellent years, but also some tough losses, and she was looking tired.

I think getting to the finals of Wimbledon, the Olympics, Canadian Open and San Diego but losing all of those final matches hurt her confidence. I thought she looked awful in her loss to Hingis at the U.S Open that year.

@@gk891 I personally think that the Olympics final was actually the hardest. She threw in whatever she could to be in the final (despite being in a poor form) only to lose in two sets to someone she never lost against. Had she won that one she would've had much more confidence, since Olympics was a big thing in some European countries.

@@peterzhou9267 She also played very hard in the Canadian Open finals against Seles. Both players seemed like they had a lot to prove in that match and Arantxa played an excellent second set. Then she had that freak accident where she lost her grip on her racket after a serve during the tie-break. Getting a new racket seemed to have disrupted her somewhat.

It was a heartbreaking sight that summer. Watch how the beautiful Arantxa tries, over and over again gives all of herself on the court and each time stops a step away from the goal I have never seen an athlete with so much passion and fire as Sanchez. Fate was very unfair to her, especially in 1996

@@carrerau7138 her serve got better, her slice backhand got deadlier and she had more variety because of this. Most importantly she got less dependent on her forehand. In the 80s she was doing most everything with her forehand. That wasnt possible anymore in the times of seles, davenport and hingis. Graf became a better strategist as a result. Imo.

@@carrerau7138 Yeah. All of them said so in the 1990s. Especially from the mid 1990s onwards graf basically beat seles us open final 1995 because of it. There were very few forehand winners for her standard, especially in the 2nd and third set. But her slice backhand made the difference .
