I replaced my rear struts on my 98 Camry about 1 year and half ago so I had to watch this video as a reminder for the rear speakers but I don’t understand why you screwed the new speaker in. You can either let it rest in between the speaker frame and the old speaker bracket just fine or you can just glue or bolt the new speaker onto the old speaker bracket. What you did works but I found what I just mentioned to be a lot simpler.

this is not the case for the 99 camry, the seats have little side cushion panels that you need to remove before being able to take the read deck cover off. I think cuz 2000, 2001 changed it

If you have the Camry model with the seperate side cushions you will have to take out the bottom half of the seats (just pull them up until the metal latches come out) and just under the side cushions is one bolt (each side). Unscrew the bolt and wiggle the side cushions out of their place, then follow the rest of this video :-)

I have a 99 Camry, I changed my head unit and the two door speakers, and it works great, but what I didn’t pay attention to was if the back speakers where working prior to me changing the door speakers, So right now I get zero sound from the rear 6x9s. Do you think if I replace them they will work or what might be causing the issue for no sound to come from them ?
@LordPrometheous
@LordPrometheous 3 жыл бұрын
Did you make sure your fade is not set fully to the front on your head unit? Other than that, my rear speakers (2001 Solara) went out around the same time, at the 16 year point, so I'd guess yours are probably both blown as well. I think I may have one rear tweeter that barely plays, but I already got replacement speakers which I'll be installing soon.

I was in the same boat after a last-week head unit and door speakers replacement. Crawled into the trunk to look at the wiring and was greeted by daylight through both broken cones. Instantly thought ' OF COURSE they were going to be bad! No moisture exposure like the broken front speakers (that still worked, WTF) but the same 20+ years of age AND exposure to UV light!'
@mikenorth534
@mikenorth534 Жыл бұрын
I'm having the same problem (2001 Camry), no rear sound after install. I have sort of a custom Camry, so I believe it must have a factory amp for the two rears like on other Toyotas and Lexus Ls300, I believe also it's a JBL amp from the factory. My problem is that I want the factory amp to still work, so I've been looking for a wiring diagram that shows my setup. I just need the factory amp to power on so that I don't have to bypass it or run additional wires to the rear speakers. Just wanted to say all that for future installers who read this.

@@SportFury1966 Me too. I got the 1999 Camry in 2016, and there was no sound from the back speakers. The fronts were OK, so I figured some common circuitry for the rear channels of the radio went bad. Then one front speaker failed a year later, I don't know if I can get a buzz out of it if I crank up the channel. Now, the other front speaker sounds like only the tweeter is playing, its woofer will only buzz if I push it. Finally, it becomes clear that the 24 year old speakers are failing, not the radio. Too bad Crutchfield did such a surprisingly poor job on this video, which hardly shows anything of the speaker-replacement process. Each channel of the radio expects to see 4 ohms, but a broken or burned out speaker might have taken an excursion far away from 4 ohms. So for the speakers that are burned out, I turn the balance and fader to stop signal from going to any burned out speaker. Just trying not to stress the radio.

i have an 01 camry xle and im thinking about getting the same 6x9's just to replace the back speakers, will these come with mounts for the speakers and do i need a new stereo?
@ProvoBeastAudio
@ProvoBeastAudio 7 жыл бұрын
You won't need a new stereo, i would see how they sound before replacing the new radio. Certainly you will have better sound quality with a new radio, but see how they sound before then. As for mounts, i'm not quite sure what you are referring to, but we didn't need any mounts when I replaced these ones. The hardware supplied with the speakers was used for mounting / securing the speaker..

@ProvoBeastAudio

Are they just rattling / vibrating from moving around? If so, use better nuts and bolts, or try using sound deadening. Just ensure that the speaker is securely mounted.

I'm surprised that Crutchfield produced such a poor video. They don't show actual process, like removing body parts that are held together with clips, but they only show after the parts were removed. They don't show taking the speakers out, but only the empty holes afterwards. They don't show the speakers being installed, but only the speakers in place afterwards. They mention some cable adapters, but they don't show what they're for or in what case they're required, and they don't show the speakers being attached to the cable connectors. Why did they bother doing this video at all. Really surprised. And the executives will decide that these cars are too old to warrant replacing this video, so I'll have to look elsewhere on the internet for a better description of the process, elsewhere besides Crutchfield, really surprised. The grill covers don't have any fasteners, so my hypothesis is that they snap on and off. But they probably snap on really tightly to avoid them buzzing at higher radio volumes. But I don't have the experience to say for sure.

@bobjoe6096
@bobjoe6096 5 жыл бұрын
Because they want you to pay them for everything that goes wrong with the car and they want you to pay them for upgrades or replacements. I'm pretty sure they would have thought it out and decided that making it difficult would make them more money than making everything easily accessible.
