Kordell was my guy (along with the Bus, of course!) I was a young kid, we had our hearts broken a lot in the 90s and early 2000s before Ben arrived. Never was able to witness the 70’s teams, but I have fond memories of watching these Stillers with my dad and grandfather. Thanks so much for posting! (Wish they would’ve won tho lol)

From 92-97 The Steelers averaged 11 wins a season. Made the playoffs every season. Three AFC Championship appearances and one SB appearance. All the while doing it with mediocre QB'S. The best of whom was Neil O'Donnell. The ultimate team sport and to this day we have people trying to break games/seasons down to one player/position.

This is precisely why Bill Cowher is in the Hall of Fame as a coach and Mike Tomlin, despite having a relatively similar resumé, may not be. Cowher's Steelers turned poo into gold while Tomlin's Steelers largely wasted one of the most talented and skilled offenses in the league, additionally Tomlin's playoff exits weren't usually AFC championships, rather one-and-dones vs teams like Jacksonville

That's right and all with next to no quarterback average quarterbacking Uncle Donald was slightly above-average but nevertheless he was no Troy Aikman or Steve Young and they were hard smart aggressive they went into the playoffs they want playing games the divisional round was usually a formality for them it was at championship game where they struggled a couple times but they really were playing high-level football they just came up short that day and at the time the NFC had a monopoly on the Super Bowl they were very hard to be that didn't end till what like 9 8 when the playing field between the AFC and the NFC became more even is when the Steelers got one for the thumb and then one for the other thumb I can't even compare that 90s team to this recent team they got in Pittsburgh the team they got in Pittsburgh now and probably everything they've had since 2011 can't hold that 90s teams cleats that 90's team would have rip any of tomlins teams to shreds except for 08 and 2010 teams but ogh yeah that was still mostly cohwers team that's why I said that team they would had in the mid-90s in my opinion is a third best top three Steeler teams of all-time that's number three followed by the the Run they had between 2005 and 2010 I can see that 95 team playing the 2022 team and I just seen them all standing around like duh what just happened did we just got our ass kicked oops oh no we got 12 men on the field

How did they not win a Superbowl with that Blitzburg D? Cowher always strategized and went for it when conservative run game would have won the day or was too conservative when in hindsight he should have went for it. If you rewatch the games and pinpoint a play here or there had such a strategic turn to a playoff game. And The Steeler identity was run game and D in those days and it seems like they botched it with their first year QB rather than ride the Bus pre halftime in this game.

Wrong. Enabled by dirty ass cut blocks and lineman who smeared cooking spray on their jerseys so defenders couldn’t engage them. Broncos were dirty AF. Shanarat took after the 49ers who had to cheat to beat Dallas.

@wardefiant

I always thought with second and 2 in FG range and Kordell throws the Int in the endzone was the blunder of the day. Ride the bus - run down the half time clock and kick a FG or rush for a TD and you are up by 7 or 10 with Elway not getting the shot to score the 2 TD's before the half. That pre half game management by the Steelers took them away from the run game and thus, the eventual defeat. I always felt like the game turned on the Int before the half. But Cowher was never a good strategist. I'll take a half time lead and run game and defense and take my chances in that era of Football. It's why you traded for Bettis and then when he could have place you in the Super Bowl - you were forced to not use him because you were so far behind. Oh My! Dick Enberg was great!

Im a die hard Steelers fan and I have come to the realization the most of my fellow Steelers fans are morons and are delusional. Football is the ultimate team sport and to blame solely cowher or slash for this loss is just dumb. Norm missed a fg and carnell lake got called for a phantom pass interference call that gave denver a ton of yards on a key 3rd down. Same thing in 01. We gave up 14 points on special teams and we lost by 7 and started the bus coming back from a calf injury that sidelined him for weeks. Then we hear in the comments how much they hate Tomlin, get real, If Tomlin was let go by the Steelers he would have a head coaching job the very next day. I mean I heard last year fans were saying we were going to go to the super bowl with Mitch after beating Cincy in the opener.? Our fan base is starting to sound like the cowgirls in that aspect. I love my Steelers and always will but I despise most of the fan base.
