John Peel sessions were the best way of hearing new bands. Something that he did for his own life and help establish unsigned bands be noticed in their career.

Chet Atlas I agree with Steve Carter. I've seen them live twice and they were incredible... shook Tim's hand when they were here in New Orleans - one of the best shows I saw in the 90s. I sure do miss them.

Are you deaf? This performance was so damn consistent.

Spoken like someone who has never encountered them live. When I saw Stereolab open for Sonic Youth in 2001, they blew their headliners off the stage (and this is coming from a massive SY fan). This recording - which is pretty great, honestly - doesn't capture how all-consuming their live presence is/was. The band's intense, stereophonic performance of "Blue Milk" still remains a flashpoint in my musical life.
