On December 21st 1995 Stereolab played a radio session at the Spanish radio show Disco Grande, directed by Julio Ruiz (at Radio 3, Spanish public radio). They played 6 songs and were interviewed. I have edited it and included here only the songs, which are:
John Cage Bubblegum 00:00
Metronomic Underground 3:20
How to Play Your Internal Organs Overnight 12:42
Percolator 16:17
The Extension Trip 20:35
Lo Boob Oscillator 23:40
At the time, Stereolab were Tim Gane, Laetitia Sadier, Mary Hansen, Morgane Lhote, Andy Ramsay and David Pajo (!).
I think this is one of their best live recordings of a great set list. I had the fortune of listening to it the first time it was aired, back in 1995, and became a big fan ever since. I recorded it on cassette back then, but recently I found the podcast on the radio station website and I edited it with better quality.
You can listen and download the complete podcast (music and interview in Spanish) here: www.rtve.es/alacarta/audios/di...

Gran documento. Una pena que no se publiquen los archivos inmensos de Radio 3, como se hacía en la BBC con las sesiones de John Peel.

Getting major Julian Cope vibes from the very beginning of the first track - precisely the "Necropolis" and "The Subtle Energies Commission" instrumentals on the Jehovahkill album.

Wow, a super-early rendition of Metronomic Underground, well-before the release of Emperor Tomato Ketchup. The song sounds a bit stiff compared to the other live sets of it, then you realize that they had hardly ever played it and probably not studio-recorded it before this.

I heard Mars Audiac Quintet playing in a record store in the mid 90's and bought it on the spot. Since then I have slowly explored more of this wonderful group. If you like minimal music, then look out for Young Marble Giants who (sadly) only released a single album. Then I discovered Porcupine Tree... but Stereolab's Three-Dee Melody gets me grooving every time :)

Porcupine Tree is the best thing to happen to rock music in a long time. The Sky Moves Sideways, Signify, Up The Down Stair, In Absentia, Fear Of A Blank Planet and even the new one. Plus their tour last year kicked ass! Finally got to see them.

Porcupine tree eh, that's quite an interesting rock family tree (pardon the pun) what with Japan's Richard Barbieri involved among others. I really like Steven Wilson's production work, esp his remastering of XTC...also his varied collaborations. Ever heard (Japan bassist) Mick Karn's album *'Bestial Cluster'* and *'The Tooth Mother'* (1998) with Wilson and Barbieri involved, also Steve Jansen. Good album that one. Wow this really is a great session from Stereolab. Love it.
