One little procedure that makes the job neater. Punch a small hole in the filter before unscrewing it and empty the filter before removal.

I personally like the K&N or Airaid oiled filters because there's so much dust here in Las Vegas it captures all those teeny-weeny dust shut particles. I usually clean my filter every 12,000 miles on my Corvette and it's got tons of soot in the oil filter. I can actually feel a difference after I clean the filter in just 12,000 miles I can feel it flows better.

I use the amsoil air filter with my k&n CAI. I like i much better. Just find your filter size on k&n website then cross reference on amsoil site

All you gotta do is put a little diesel fuel in your oil couple of weeks before you change it and it'll do the same stuff that cleaner will do and do it better. Another thing you said I had to replace the liners in a big diesel engine every 2-400k miles well if you say so but most larger diesel engines go well over a million miles before being rebuilt and that's only because most of the time the valve seats are failing.

Steve I have to say. The ball joint noise is gone. And sounds alot better when you pulled up to the shop, and you need that air filter changed. Will have to try that oil on my truck when I get the motor in it

Be careful eben. The 7.3 motor has an upper reservoir for high pressure oil pump. When oil is drained, about a quart remains in that reservoir to be pumped out

It took exactly 14 quarts. It actually could have taken another 0.3 at. We did the flush and that loosened up a lot more oil to come out

Just seen my friend change his 7.3 2001 f250 and he dump oil like you but before filling he had a vacumme pump to removed about half to a full quart from a reservior on top of motor. Ill get ya a link to a vid
