I have a 3rd gen 1997 Ford Taurus SHO 3.4 liter v8 with muffler delete and 1 of three cats delete, have only the first 2 cats on the car and nothing else exiting out the rear. The results are very satisfying!

E90 335i TBH yes. The reason why Ford is pulling out of the car market is because they are making crap that no one wants. Idk anyone who wants a 4 banger mustang with turbo, sorry, man. If people want turbos that’s fine, but I think ford would sell way more cars if they used v-8s. Look at dodge and just how well the Challenger and Charger v8 models have done.

Also, because of the low HP per liter, it ought to be very unstressed most of the time, so should last very long provided you take care to change the oil and stuff. Finally, also from the low HP/L, it must feel very strong compared to smaller 175-hp engines.

I had a friend with a 1998 Ford Taurus DOHC with an aftermarket V8, although the car has numerous problems and bad rust. I've had a 2006 Ford Taurus SEL (Completely stock) for about 2 years and 114k and I think it's a great starter car. I have some minor interior mods. Unfortunately modern cars with their 4 cylinders are more efficient and powerful than the older V6s and V8s, although their sound is awful. I was thinking about doing an exhaust mod on mine. You can't beat the reliability of the Taurus engines though.

Not sure how easy of a swap this would be. First off, you would need to find a way to mount a FWD motor in a RWD car. Not sure if the motor has any provisions for this. Also, mounting a transmission (and particularly a manual transmission) could potentially be an issue. It goes without saying that it wouldn’t bolt straight up to a stock Miata transmission. Or any other commonly used manual transmission, for that matter. You would probably need both a custom bellhousing and flywheel ($$$$$$). In other words, you would have to REALLY, REALLY, REALLY WANT to use this motor (and be willing to pay for the swap) to use it. And after all this, you get a motor that is down on power compared to other V8’s and has virtually ZERO performance aftermarket. I realize that motors like the Coyote and LS may seem like boring swaps. But let’s face it. There are some pretty strong REASONS why people prefer to swap these motors. Even something like a Toyota 1UZ or Nissan VH/VK would probably be a better bet.
@abnormallynormalguy
@abnormallynormalguy 6 жыл бұрын
The lincoln LS came with a duratec 3.0 V6 in a RWD configuration with a 5 speed manual. That trans (and flywheel) will bolt up. The 3.4 SHO is based on the older Mazda 2.5 DOHC V6,(mazda MX6, ford probe, Gen1 of the FWD Mazda MPV, and others. Not sure if it will fit in a miata though. I've looked at a lot of forums and stuff about swaps for this engine because I think they are awesome. I've seen guys put mazda 6 5 speed trannies in the taurus as well... from what I've seen, a pretty intensive swap, but definitely doable, and oh what fun that would be lol

I’m not really a fan of the Taurus but when I saw that this one had a V8 that tells me that Ford should of kept the V8 then it would of been a great competitor with the Charger

I owned a 1998 black. Loved that car! I would buy another if it had low miles.

For as boring as a car this looks on the outside, it has one of the most legendary drivetrain combinations out there. I would definitely drive one around town just to get looks as you scream by in grandma's ford Taurus.
