all you have to do is drive one of these cars once.....just once, and you WILL understand why we love our Mark VIII s, I have 2 of these beauties. The best car Lincoln EVER made! So ahead of there time, they could bring them back with little changes, and they would still be ahead of the rest

Thats why they never will. This era of car was magnificent. Most of yhe 90s automobiles were basically trouble free and satisfyingly beautiful. When your in them, you dont want anything else. Gm and Ford were on it. Car companys don't want people this satisfied anymore. They want you trading cars every three years. I owned a mks and ats and i have never been as satisfied as i am in my buick park avenue. I love this car and was in college and broke when it came out. But i wanted one so bad.

The refreshed Mark VIII and the last generation Acura Legend are two great examples of cars that still look good today. (although you see less and less of them)

To clear up some of the misinformation in the comments for the Mark VIII: The curb weight is 3,765 pounds (it is NOT a 4,000+ lb. car). At least two comments mention a 7.9 sec 0-60 time which is completely bogus. MW timed the LSC at 7.0 sec, and Consumer Guide tested a '96 model at 6.8 sec 0-60, and in the Consumer Guide test the Mark VIII beats the Lexus SC400 by half a second 0-60.

Last year I was at the Ford Nationals At Carlisle. There was a guy who did a convertible conversion on a 1995 LSC. Looked great, took home a trophy.

@coandcaiv ford greatly understated its actual 0-60 times. contemporary road magazines got to 60 in the mid 6 second range. quite good for its day and still no slouch.
@austin12345713 жыл бұрын
@coandcaiv They severly, underestimated the 0-60 speeds, it's a good 6.7-6.9 then the lsc had atleast 6.5-6.7

I've had my 97 LSC for a year. It is a great car.
@KlipschHead28111 жыл бұрын
They must have had Motor Trend provide the performance numbers for this video, almost 8 seconds to 60? The LSC was fantastic and easily in the mid to high 14's.
@terrencesimpson38869 жыл бұрын
My Mark viii would have a 0 to 60 time of 7.9 seconds only if 5 large people and a trunk full of luggage were on board. Subtract a little more than a second, and you have the true 0 to 60 time.
@rootsmanuva828 жыл бұрын
+Terrence Simpson Prove it. It should theoretically do 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds. But I still want you to prove it lol.

Gen II's are slower, about .5 off from a Gen II, and this car is a base model. They may have done this with the traction control on, while great in theory, it takes too long to recover from to use it in a performance test (as they don't hit the rear brakes like on Gen I's, only lower engine output)..
@skaterdudey7715 жыл бұрын
Have you seen the new MKS or any other Ford/Lincoln for that matter? BLIS w/ cross traffic alert, active motion seats, radar-based park assist (unlike Lexuses 50% effective camera based one), EcoBoost, Sirius Travel Link, and SYNC are just a few examples of all the tech and luxury options you can get from Ford/Lincoln that the competition can't match, let alone beat.
@djbruce2617 жыл бұрын
No, only Mark VII and Mark VIII Air suspension was bad... the air suspension used on Crown Vic/Grand Marquis was superb and lasted 200-300K miles....
@skaterdudey7715 жыл бұрын
You do realize that catalyic converters can go after a while, and the whole concept is that they are filled with specific precious (meaning expensive) metals that cost a lot. So $800 for catalyic converters isn't that much, and replacing them on a 10 year old car isn't that unexpected.
@jsrambler15 жыл бұрын
The only "ricer" luxury coupe in the Mark VIII's class in 1997 was the Lexus SC400, it was 1 second faster to 60, but not nearly as cool as the Mark.

0-60 in 7.9 seconds?? what type of bullshit is that? At the slowest the were in the upper 6 second range. 93 was the fastest, and 0-60 in the lower 6 second range. My 98 LSC does it in the upper 6 second range

yeah but that car weighs 4000+ lbs. so 7.9 secs isn't bad for that heavy of a car
