The 4-3 Seattle Seahawks receive the 3-4 Oakland Raiders in a matchup opposing Warren Moon to Rich Gannon. High scoring fun game.

That night, Jose Mesa blew the save and my brother was _MAD._

"Mesa's 2.40 ERA, 16 saves, and four wins helped the Indians to their second World Series appearance in three seasons; however, he failed to hold a one-run lead in the ninth inning of Game 7 of the 1997 World Series, and Cleveland traded him midway through the following season." That's tough lol

@@beaubbyvagnert7035 Charles Nagy (who started Game 3 of the same World Series) turned out to be Cleveland's pitcher of record that night. My brother had Indians posters in his room and as the tail-end of the game played out, he ripped them off.

@@beaubbyvagnert7035 Nagy remained in the Cleveland pitching rotation until 1999, when the Indians were eliminated in the ALDS in five games by the Boston Red Sox. Indians manager Mike Hargrove was fired after that season. It's very frustrating to look at the box score of Game 7 in 1997 in retrospect knowing that: 1) the Indians led the Florida Marlins 2-0 until Florida's at-bat in the seventh inning and 2) they had two men on base in their half of the ninth inning. If just one of those base runners were able to score, it's a different story. Interestingly, Game 7 of the 1997 World Series was to have originally been Charles Nagy's turn in the starting rotation-- but Hargrove instead gave the start to Jaret Wright, who guided the Indians to a 10-3 blowout of the Marlins at home in Game 4 the previous Wednesday.
