Steve Bellisari was a monster on special teams in 1998. Would he have been better playing defense instead of QB? I think so, but we'll never know.

His punk ass daddy made sure he was QB John cooper was bullied by the Alumni I think his dad gave like $5 million dollars

I agree; he would have been a great safety. And at the same time, if he had had one more year to play QB under Tressel we would have a totally different opinion of him. He was really starting to come on his last year, Tressel would have QB whispered him

John Cooper finally beat Larry Smith in 97 and 98.Didn't go as well when Smith was at USC. Cooper didn't beat him when Smith was at Arizona and Coop was at Arizona State

True, Corby Jones was a good option QB (almost beat Nebraska), but that was the theme of the Cooper era. Blue chip talent, got out coached against his rival, and upset by MSU (signature win that put Saban on the map en route to Tuscaloosa)

@@hwkstr1 only in 98.Ohio State beat Michigan who had a good passing quarterback Tom Brady. Coming up short for Natty wouldn't have been so bad for Cooper if program hadn't declined in 99 and 00.

Looked at in terms of future NFL'ers, this wasn't such an amazing collection of talent. LBs, DBs, David Boston and not much else.

Andy Katzenmoyer was my idol in HS. However, I have watched several games of his now, and he was (I hate to say it) overrated. A beast to be sure, but bad reads, bad motor, bad angles, can't shed blocks, etc. Really has shit in the cheerios of my childhood honestly. it is especially the case when you watch similar tape of someone like Lavar Arrington from the same era. The effort, instincts, speed, and talent difference is notable.
@nospam33273 ай бұрын
Uh, you are mistaken. He completely improved our defense single handed as a freshman. He ended the game the year before with his hit on Jones. He did tail off instead of improve as a Buckeye; unfortunately, that is on OSU's coaches. They asked him to put on weight and asked him to do too much. When he was just allowed to play he was a beast.
@hillstruth3 ай бұрын
@@nospam3327 Sure, I guess ALL the NFL scouts who said the same thing were wrong as well. . . despite being right given Katzenmoyer's NFL career, even with the neck injury. Again, no disrespect, but he was not an elite linebacker like many others were. See, e.g., Ray Lewis at Miami. He was a physical freak, a mean motherfucker, and a hell of a player, but he was not a student of the game, and it showed.

@alexkain85643 жыл бұрын
If you have control of the football after it hits you in the hands you aren’t required to make a football move. Boston had control before it was stripped away by the defensive back. That first touchdown by Missouri was legit
@chethammerАй бұрын
You're also thinking the modern rules of what constitute a catch. Back then it was just control and the football move thing wasn't a part of it. That all came about with Dez Bryant and the pros.
