That was bad commentary The last shot of the half was on that side of the court El Amin was going to the locker room when the Iowa player smacked him but the announcer made it like El Amin started it when he reacted like any other player would

When Voskul falls into El Amin at 42:10, it's the funniest thing I've witnessed. I still remember how hard I laughed when it happened, 20 years later.

Iowa fired Dr. Tom for not getting enough recruits, winning enough games or going far enough in the tournament. Yet it's nearly a quarter of a century later and Iowa has still never gotten back to the Sweet 16 since this game.

after losing in the opening round of the 1998 NIT Dr. Tom said he will coach the 1998/99 season but after that he will leave iowa and AD Bob Bowlsby notified Davis that he would not renew his contract

Sore point re Dr Tom for me. A great guy, a terrific model for young men, and a huge asset to the state and to the U of I. No doubt EVER he should've been put off this way. Should have been THE Coach as long as he wanted. Can't say enough.
