Wow…that coach is amazing for a 1998….in my opinion, it’s way ahead of its time with all the bells and whistles, custom chassis, dual leveling, etc. this was an extremely high end coach back in the day. I’d take this over a new gas Winnebago or something at this price. Looks mint. 👍

The "Clouding" on the cabinets were not caused by cleaning fluid. The technical term in cabinet spraying is called "Blushing". This is caused by not having the sprayed cabinets in a climate controlled room, booth, environment after spraying. This defect is caused by moisture trapped under the clear coat or shellac which causes the blushing effect. How do I know this? My fathers business was Custom Kitchen Cabinets starting in the 60's for 60 years. I grew up building cabinets by hand and learning from Dad to Spray the cabinets to a beautiful finish. We lived in Long Island NY and the spray booth/room was huge so we had separate climate control for that booth/room. The reason why this blushing occurred at Beaver, and other cabinet builders in OR is the lack of temp control AND MOISTURE CONTROL. OR is a damp place if you lived there or ever visited, it is typically cold and damp which is why this issue occurred at any of the builders in OR and not in other places like IN, IA or any builders in the central USA, NO HUMIDITY in Indiana or the midwest like there is in OR, WA! Many of the early Beaver Rigs between 98 and 2000 even till 02 had this problem with the finish. There are several ways to fix this but the best and most consistent method would be to pull all the cabinets out of the rig and have them stripped, resprayed and resealed by a pro. I experienced the exact same defect on all the cabinets on one of my rigs I purchased several years ago. What was it? A 1998 Beaver Marquis Tourmaline! Almost the exact same rig as is in this video. not sure if this was a Tourmaline but it is the exact same layout and even the upholstery fabric is the same. I uninstalled all the cabinets and redid them myself, which is the best way to do it. there are "products" that say they can "fix" this "blushing" defect, but they WILL BE inconsistent which will make the cabinets inconsistent which will look even worse then if you just let them be. I bough my Marquis Tourmaline knowing I knew what this issue was and I could fix it my self, hence got a really killer deal on the rig in 2021. From a sellers perspective, It's hard to argue with the explanation of this blushing defect from the son of a cabinet maker who knew what it was and explained it succinctly, so he didn't really have much of a choice but to take my offer. You don't need to go to an "RV" dealer to get this fixed, with their hourly rate it won't be worth it, go find a local cabinet maker that is still building hardwood cabinets and not prefab that sprays their own cabinets and he can refinish them for you. You would just have to remove all the cabinets and the trim from the rig and hand them over to the cabinet guy. Trust me, once you get that done, the hardwood Beaver used back in that era will look like a $50K custom kitchen when they are refinished and re installed. FYI, Most rigs from Monaco, Beaver and possibly Country Coach had this issue between 1998 and 2002 to varying degrees until they figured it out. Many people will not buy a used rig with this blushing defect because they don't know how to fix the issue. I just told you what to do! Happy Hunting, there are great deals out there with this exact problem. In fact almost any Class A built in OR during that era has experienced this issue across multiple manufacturers. Fun Fact: Did you know that Beaver Motorcoach was a Custom Cabinet Maker prior to becoming Beaver Motorcoach?!? Yes, Beaver designed and built all the cabinets for the leading Class A manufacturers starting in 97. They figured out that they were building cabinets for all the top class A manufacturers so they figured "We can buy a chassis and build our own Class A's which is exactly what they did in the late 90's! Hope this helps you all if you find this era Class A rig with a blushing issue, don't be afraid, get it inspected by an NRVIA certified inspector and check the Drivetrain, engine, electrical house and chassis and plumbing. If all that comes back in A or A+ inspection results, BUY IT and redo the cabinets! All the Best! Sincerely from a Beaver and Monaco owner happily renovating blushing Class A rigs for my enjoyment!!

I too owned a cabinet shop years ago in Illinois, spraying nitrocellulous lacquer had its issues, if one sprays too heavy of coats before previous coat flashed you'd end up with blushing. I still spray lacquer and if it happens on a humid day, a good coat of pure Acetone can clear it up. This most likely happened due to this coach being closed up tight without a humidifier. Might be able to bake that out at 140 degrees but, maybe damage something else in there. Other than that it would make a nice coach
@tradermomo6355Ай бұрын
@@deanhauser1838 Hey Dean, They sprayed these cabinets in OR. Humid, drastic temp changes, that's why they blushed. I am surprised it took the Beaver cabinet peeps so long to figure out why it was happening! Anyway, I was just looking on RTV, rvtrader, there are a bunch of them out there! Happy hunting!! ;- )

you are correct, I have the same coach, but a 1996. Humidity is the enemy under the finish, happens to all of them. Mine, being in a dry climate, and climate controlled storage for many years, has very little clouding. Beaver did a few Prevost conversions in1992, used Koa wood. They are spectacular looking! I am sure this coach has been sold, it is a wonderful opportunity if not for someone, especially with $4k of new tires!

Here in NC their are plenty of cabinet shops that can fix the cabinets. Matching that burl inlay will be difficult if not impossible. My bigger concern is the water stain on the ceiling. @CarlBarr-n7fАй бұрын
I would suspect that the finish hazing has been caused by excessive moisture buildup in the coach for a period of time. Not an application issue, generally clouding in finish appears immediately if it’s environmental. Two other things I noticed was the burl veneer rolling up on the raised panels and some discoloration on the ceiling panels around the roof units. I have also seen this exact same finish issue in another Marquis model of this vintage, but that coach every double pane window seals had failed. This has really good looking windows for a coach that old. No doubt this is a very fine coach and an exceptional value. I would order new finished cabinet doors and only refinish the face frames. I would also do a thorough roof and mold inspection. I think it would look good in my driveway!
@FischerRestorationАй бұрын
The issue with the cabinets can be solved fairly easy by using a mohawk product called ultra classic toner that is a transparent color pigment in a spray lacquer that visually transforms the foggy finish into clear vibrant finish again.. 40 plus years of doing this tells me so :)
