I was there that day, about seven years old. My dad and I were about to ride the Gemini when suddenly he threw me over his shoulder and started running. Had no idea what was happening until I heard people screaming, ‘tornado!!!’ I still got to ride the Gemini that night lol.

I was there at Cedar Point that day with my wife and son... we heard someone say "look at the waterspout !"... we looked, and said "looks more like a tornado"... then everyone started running for shelter... we were huddled down in a men's restroom with dozens of other people... lots of people in there were praying... several minutes later, we were told to go to the arcade game area, which we all did. We'll never forget that day !

@Pathos31211 жыл бұрын
As an FYI, a water spout can still make land fall and become a Tornado. Although it typically is not nearly as strong but it does happen. Also, I think water spout should really be reconsidered, it's a misnomer for sure.

I was there that day. I was around 10, and my whole family was getting into the lazy river when a kid who was acting like a little brat minutes before pointed and said “Hey! Tornado!” The lifeguards got us out of the water, and ushered my family into the area where they stored the tubes. We were all told to grab one to hold, and my dad went with the lifeguards to make sure nothing was getting close. Looking back at it, I’m so impressed with the lifeguards, because they had to have been around 20-25, and they handled everything so well!

I was there that day. There were three water spouts. I think you actually filmed the first one. That one actually crossed the point by the dorms that CP has on point. The second one was thinner but the third one was 3 times wider than that one and it dropped a lot of lake water all over the point. I remember I have never seen the lightening storm that was after that since in my entire life. This one you filmed if it was the first actually crossed the point and picked up trash cans and if any of the people living in Cedars dorm had their windows open it sucked their stuff into the yard. I only seen like three dorms that were unlucky. The second and third spouts didn't make landfall.

Water spouts aren't that destructive. In fact people go under them.
@Fahrenheit40513 жыл бұрын
@@train_go_boom2065 Never is it advisable to enter a waterspout, even a weak one. It's hard to tell how strong they are just by looking at them. Sure, if you're lucky, the _tornado_ (because that's what a waterspout is) could be sub-EF0 at less than 40 miles per hour. These two look like they were the supercell type, probably with winds exceeding 80 miles per hour - easily enough to knock you over and collect dangerous debris if they reach land.
@rosievortex28083 жыл бұрын
@@train_go_boom2065 No. A waterspout will capsize a boat. They can also make landfall and damage whatever is in its path.

I was at Cedar Point the day it happened. I was young and had no idea why my family forced us all into the arcade on the center walkway until someone said there was a tornado coming towards the park. Of course the "tornado" turned out to be a waterspout.

I remember this I was 5 years old. My family was at Marblehead lighthouse. I still have dreams of sitting in the backseat of my parents’ car. I looked out the back window and the waterspout had touched ground! We pulled off the road and took shelter in the basement of a museum. (Which was a gift shop)

I wasnt born yet but my dad worked at the factory that make steel cabinets forgot the name of it. But he and some of his co workers was watching it from there. Theres so many time we came close to moment where we thought a tornado was going to touch down at CP. Especially the year 2016 or 2017 where dark clouds showed up behind top thrill dragster around 6 or 7pm and the weather service came on to tell everyone to get to the closest exit ot shelter.

I am actually from Sandusky Ohio...My house was about 3 blocks away from the cedar point causeway. I remember this day, I was supposed to have a baseball game that night. (I'm 24 now) That Waterspout actually left the Sandusky bay and followed 2.05 and followed a shipping channel that deadends right into TGIFridays. Very low chances it would follow this path. I sat on my back deck and watched it with my father. It is to this day the largest "thing" i've seen. and this isn't kluding, it's baum.

I was there that day, I was 10 years old. My family was on the river boat ride. We got the news about the what they claimed to be a f2 tornado over the radio, unfortunately since we just started the ride we had to continue going forward due to the fact it would have taken us longer to go back against the current...it was very scary after we got off the ride we went in seek shelter in the arcade..kinda crazy the electric went out for a minuet and came back on and the tickets started shooting out of all the machines unfortunately my brother who had spent all his money winning tickets all day wasn't able to turn them in...I remember seeing a tornado drop down in a field on our way down to cedar point that day and even a more scary ride home it seamed like the radio was just announcing tornado warnings for every county we just entered it was dark and we seen all it of down power lines and tress

I don't know what Cedar Point was thinking buying these nauseating rides. They're super uncomfortable, way too intense, and fall apart within minutes of being constructed. They should go the route of Lake Huron and build a big subtropical cyclone. Everyone gets wet, and it'll still be less dangerous then getting Shot by the Rapids. 😉
