God I miss the commentary team ESPN had for Hockey back in the 90s. So damn good.

This was by far the most depressing game in all my years of being a Capitals fan for 39 years. More depressing than losing a series being up 3-1 or 3-0. We owned this game and could’ve carried that over into game 3 and 4 in DC. But can honestly also say being at Game 4 myself when Detroit gave the Cup to Konstantinov that was a beautiful moment.

The Cap fans at game 4 were some of the classiest losers. They cheered for Vladdy when he stood up and when he got wheeled onto the ice. You guys deserved your cup win 20 years later.

Vladdy at 53:50, maybe you meant 53:39 not 58:39, still thanks for the time stamps, doing God’s work

I remember this game so well. I was freaking out as the Wings were losing and was so thrilled with the great comeback. Cannot believe it has been 23 years and almost 7 months. An incredible comeback is complete!! I was only 14 years old.

I make an argument that Game 2 of the 1998 Stanley Cup Finals was the greatest game in Joe Louis Arena history. Why? Because it was in a Stanley Cup Final; the Red Wings had an incredible comeback to win the game; and Esa Tikannen's miss with Chris Osgood dead to rights changing the fortunes of both the Red Wings and the Washington Capitals to this day.

YES. This game is an absolute classic; people always forget that this lopsided series actually produced one of the best SCF games of recent years.

The next EA hockey video game should go back to the ESPN crew. Although I would pay extra to hear Detroit’s Ken and Micky do it.

This is the day my twin sister and I were born. My dad(Whose birthday is June 10th and who I'm named after, Larry Sr) as well as my older sister were watching the game while my mom was in C-section.

i’m just an NHL fan, no specific team….but i would’ve loved to have seen Washington win this cup… it would’ve been an enormous upset….and even though it was a sweep, the first 3 games were only 1 goal wins for Detroit

I remember being oddly confident they were gonna win this thing the whole game . Every other time the wings were in the finals I was concerned at least a little the first few games but I never had any doubts they beat the caps . That team had a mission to accomplish and there wasn't anything going to stop them . I do however think the 97 team was the best or at least my favorite wings team of all time .

I remember watching this Final and this was the game that deflated the Caps for the rest of the series. After this OT loss they were done. At least that pest Tikkanen didn't win another Cup after riding the coattails with the Rangers and then Cup chasing with St. Louis and Vancouver.

In fact a lot of the '90 Oilers were in that 1994 Finals. The only one who was with the Canucks was Martin Gelinas, the real MVP of the 2004 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
