The 90s were so loaded. So many 1 loss powerhouses that would've benefited from the present playoffs. During the entire decade 90-99 93 and 96 are the only 2 seasons a team not undefeated won the championship! 3 if you count 90 Colorado? But g.t. was undefeated that year and 91 an 97 both split champions were undefeated and in 93 anm96 the 1 loss champs had to beat a undefeated team fsu 11-0 96 an Nebraska 11-0 in 93.

I’m not so sure that anybody from 1997 could have beaten 1997 Nebraska. I saw them in person against Kansas State and they were on another level entirely than all the other Big XII teams. That Nebraska team put up 56 points on an 11 win K-State squad that torched Syracuse in the Fiesta Bowl.

They would have beat Michigan potentially. I am a Michigan fan, but this OSU team has lots of talent on defense and a good O-line, but the skill position players are sub par by OSU standards. David Boston is a young David Boston at the point, and the RBs, QBs (Stanley was terrible) and TE were pedestrian. The same was true for the rest of the Big 10. That Michigan defense was great because of the pass rush, LBs and Woodson....PS I still can't believe Wadsworth was a hire pick than Woodson

FSU’s offense played like shit in this game! Way too many 50/50 balls thrown deep. I remember being so pissed at Busby for some of those shit throws. The score could’ve been so much worse. If that FSU team had a truly elite QB no one would have beat them. Busby was a good guy,and a decent QB but he had serious throwing flaws depending on the situation. QB scouting back then was pretty bad. I remember Drew Henson was a sports illustrated phenom and it came down to Michigan and FSU, but I watched Michigan in the late 90s to see how Henson did and instead I saw some other guy throwing frozen ropes wishing FSU had a QB ike that...that QB ended up being Tom Brady.
