Great video!! Had this exact same issue with my 2002 GC WJ ..went to do an oil change, and boom, the bolt wouldn't come out .. just kept turning...It wasn't leaking so I just left it in and decided to change the oil by sucking it out through the top. It's been like that for 4 years.. Change the oil & filter every 2k miles , easy peazy,... Runs great on Valvoline high mileage synthetic blend 5w-30 Can't imagine dealing with that nonsense or paying somebody $750 to do it.. The old girl still runs great !!

One of the only videos for a jeep that shows you can take the oil pan off without removing all the suspension! Encouraging! I was wondering if you could of removed the starter instead though? I'm a novice, avid DIY and not a mechanic. Thanks again for taking the time to show your work. Funny too!

Hey, thanks a lot, this was the most helpful video I watched, and actually the cursing was good, because I was able to pay extra close attention on those difficult areas. None of the other vids even talked about those weird bits like the clips for the heat shield and that half circle by the bell housing. I think that might have been meant to damp vibration of the sheet metal at the front of the bell. Btw, I didn't remove the exhaust or the starter, just a little wiggle was all it needed

Actually, I don't believe I'm any better than a box of rocks, with a mechanical mind. I just pick away, wonder why, and do not have the ability to get an engineering degree, because I have no class. Class puts me to sleep. I only have the ability to fix junk. Because broken, leaking things are junk. A serious life is a tragic one. there is no humor in that. If I was serious about whatever this is, I would probably drive myself off of a cliff in something like this. Have a nice day.

Worst design for any oil pan is to have the drain sitting up inside the pan. It creates a sump that can never be drained. Back in my day, a vehicle would come in with a stripped drain I would drop the pan (in the 70's you could reach stuff), braze weld a fine thread nut to the pan and plug it with a fine thread bolt with a crush washer. Problem solved and all the oil would drain out for an oil change. Nowadays, I put Fumoto drain valves on all my vhehicles and don't worry about stripping the plugs. OBTW, I don't offroad. :^)

Just a heads up, that "cheesy Chrysler engineering" that you describe as a "cheesy little clippy thing that doesn't allow for stupid" (your words) that you were so hell-bent on getting off with a large pick is called a push-on locking washer used at the factory to hold the pan and gasket in place while driving the pan bolts in. They've been common in the automotive industry for about the last 45 years, and designed to hold things in place. A body-panel puller or a common kitchen fork is all you needed to pull it straight off. You made it hard on yourself bro...
