Those easy outs work a lot of the time but when working on that crappy chevy quick connect fitting I've found that instead of just hammering it in, take an old breaker bar and twists counter clockwise while hammering in the easy out. It stops from stripping out the inside of the old pipe and you have a better chance of it grabbing.

Worst design for any oil pan is to have the drain sitting up inside the pan. It creates a sump that can never be drained. Back in my day, a vehicle would come in with a stripped drain I would drop the pan (in the 70's you could reach stuff), braze weld a fine thread nut to the pan and plug it with a fine thread bolt with a crush washer. Problem solved and all the oil would drain out for an oil change. Nowadays, I put Fumoto drain valves on all my vhehicles and don't worry about stripping the plugs. OBTW, I don't offroad. :^)

Reason I’m watching is because I have a 04 Honda accord ex 2.4 and bought it 3 years ago , lights inside always flicker when I start it , not a big problem , installed a touch screen radio android aftermarket big mistake it’s trash and now half my lights only work inside the car , battery died and was marginal meaning at the end of its life cycle so got it warranty out at Midas gave me a new one and 3 days later it’s already at 68%, idk if it s a electrical issue or a alternator issue , car stil starts up but I wa shearing a loud supercharge noise , took it tot he shop they said they don’t know what’s wrong with it , alternator reading is fine said it was 58% and when he started it it went to 68% so I’m trying to find out ,
@RustBeltAuto7 күн бұрын
@@YoungShizzie you need to load test the alternator. It should load test at about 100 amps. Any local parts store should be able to do an alternator battery test. If you think a radio (DOUBTFUL), or an amplifier is draining your volt/amps, or messing with your lights, unplug them, and check it then. Check your grounds. A bad ground will do all kinds of crazy lighting things. Make sure your engine to body ground is good especially.

I never look at the timing marks. Paint mark your own lines across old belt and all pulleys. Then remove belt and use old belt as a template to copy paint marker onto new belt. Line new belt up with paint marks on pulleys. It’s quicker than finding factory marks.

Gotta say I liked this video more than the other one where several other things were loosened or taken off as well before even getting to removing the alternator itself… and no torque wrench. Saw a comment somewhere about doing it in 10 minutes and here I am. I recall almost doing this a couple of years ago (maybe even inspired by this video), but decided to let the dealer do it instead (way too cold and just did not want to deal with it)… Good thing too as it was the starter that had failed back then.
@fdog230413 күн бұрын
In the midst of "just push both sides in and comes right out like that"… so far not coming up with the right tool… ended up unscrewing the mount from the alternator itself, simple after that. Guess I'll get me one of those hook tools… New one's in, top bolt is in, but the bottom two are proving to be somewhat elusive after a couple tries and my back is tired so break time. And okay, now I know what to feel for on the bottom after lunch is over (must have been too far to the left)… And pretty much straightforward after that. Seems to be working, see how it goes in the next couple days. 10 minutes for somebody who knows what they're doing vs. some really old guy who needs maybe 3 hours. Not too bad… fairly simple way to save some bucks. Thanks Rust Belt Auto guy!!
