this is one of my dream cars even though its the step child cobra of the new edge. at 17 I currently have a 2007 V6 and 2000 V6 and one day I hope to collect new edges and S197s.

I have this exact same car with the exact same spec and it's the only other car like mine that I have ever seen on the internet or anywhere for that matter and it's so cool to see it in its stock brand new configuration because mine is a little rough but about to be completely customized by me but defiantly a cool video

You talked about a recall at the beginning of the video because of inadequate power. Do you have anymore information about that.

1999 MUSTANG COBRAS WERE GETTING SMOKED BY GM CARS LIKE THE CAMARO AND PONTIAC FIREBIRD EVEN THO THEY WERE ALL RATED AT 320 HP. SO SVT DECIDED TO STOP PRODUCTION IN 2000 WHILE THEY TRIED TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE COBRAS. AND IN 2001 SVT CAME BACK ON PRODUCTION WITH THE COBRA, STILL SAME ENGINE AND SAME POWER, BUT NOW THE CAR WAS PULLING ALL THE POWER THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE.

@@As-nw4fg all it was was an issue with the Intake manifolds and the exhaust system I'm not 100% on exact specifics but something about those two things was restricting hp. They did a recall and swapped those parts out and got all of the advertised power out of them. People make more of a big deal about this than it really needs to be its simple things to fix even if your car doesn't have "the fix" so to speak. Just get the intake manifold ported and throw on a full aftermarket exhaust and itll make just as much power as an 01 with those same parts. Nothing at all wrong with the 99s but alot of people shy away because of this when it really isn't a hard fix at all and if you're gonna be modding it anyways those are some of the best things to do to these cars as it is. Those upgrades with fbo and a set of cams can get you 360-370 rwhp.

Just curious... All the 1999 SVT Cobra models I've seen have a Cobra emblem not a pony in the grill? What gives? Where's the original cobra emblem for the grill?

Hi, RayW, The answer has arrived, and here it is. (Lou, please inform your inquiry that my 1999 Cobra SVT convertible was ordered by me through a Ford dealer and was delivered April, 1999. I have not modified it in any way. The front grill medallion is a Pony, not a Cobra. Many people did slightly modify their cars by replacing the Pony with the Cobra. This car was judged as an original Cobra by a team of Mustang Club of America judges, who were very strict and hard-nosed. Had a Cobra been on the grill, they would have dinged me big time. It did win a GOLD award, the highest that can be achieved in the class. I did GOOGLE 1999 Mustang Cobra SVT and sure enough some did have Cobras on the grill , but most have the Pony. Be assured the Pony is the correct grill medallion.)

Old comment but no cobra from 94-04 has a cobra in grill stock but so many of them were changed to cobra emblems people think they came stock that way. You know it's an original when it still has the pony in grill lol.

They didn't originally make 320hp at the crank, so they were recalled and modified to put them closer to the stated 320hp at the crank.

Eidrian111 Hi Eidrian111, Yes you are correct, and because of valuable suggestions from KZbin Viewers like you making excellent suggestions like this, I'm now asking people who can start there cars (sometimes in a museum, or at a show Promoters do not allow you to start the cars) to start there cars. All it was was casting issues on the intake manifolds and an issue with the exhaust system both were restricting flow. Most of them were fixed by the recall but even if it wasn't fixed all you'd have to do is have your intake manifold ported and throw on an exhaust which is some of the better upgrades for these cars anyway so honestly I think people make too big a deal out of these small simple things to fix. I could understand avoiding them if they had bottom end issues or the heads were bad or something but the recall really was a simplistic thing. Those things were restricting flow causing a loss in power most were fixed but like I said easy to fix with mods and it'll make same power as an 01 with the same mods.

@@midnight347 LOL IF YOU DIDN'T OWN A 96 TOO 99 VERSION OF THE 4.6 YOU MOST LIKELY WOULDN'T HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH NON DURABILITY OF THAT MOTOR.MY 97 COBRA THAT I BOUGHT NEW BACK IN 97 LOL WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS BUT MY POINT IS I HAD 2 THOUSAND ORIGINAL MILES ON IT AND I MISSED ONE SHIFT AND THE MOTOR BLEW UP. SO LOL I SOLD THAT CAR AND CUT MY LOSSES.THE 4.6 FROM SVT WASN'T PERFECTED UNTIL 2004 IN MY TERMINATOR.THE 03 HAD HEAD ISSUES BUT THE EARLIER 4.6 STRUGGLED TO MAKE GOOD POWER AND IF YOU REALLY PUSHED IT MUCH OVER 400hp LOL YOU HEARD KAAABOOOMMM LOL.
