*Exactly*. To this - srry for the kind of swearing - frigging day there is *no* other couple that have impressed me so much. Though i saw them on a comp in i believe '98 - in that year they were already climbing up the ladder but weren't know that much as in '99 or let alone in Y2k, plus i could not see them well in that competition, and value them in the first place - i never saw them live again. But man, from what i saw on tv- they were something else. I remember their kind of badass Samba presentation entry at the ARD Masters Gala. The well known comp on TV, aired 3 times in a year. What sets them apart, and for me as a male Latin Dancer, was the precise but explosive movement of Slavyk (yes, at that time still with an Y), but also the sheer feeling they radiate from within when he and she danced. In their group - as we could see here - there were some superb other men and couples. But *non* did have the *naturalness* of Slavik. Wich of course came from being thoroughly trained. A close dancefriend who happened to have trained in the same venue, says Slavyk (in the end of the partnership i believe) would have wanted train up to 80 hours per week. But Joanne didn't wanted that. Besides, i also heard he slapped her (?)Or the rumour has it.

​@StudioMargalima Another version, published on the internet or interview, don't recollect the source, is that he was dating Karina at that time and she was dancing professional with Louis Van Amstel. Apparently they tried to keep their personal lives and dance careers separate but it was turning out to be a hassle, and they ended up swapping partners. That was the start of the Slavik-Karina partnership and Joanna would go on to dance with Louis.

Очень модные были такие платья , и в России их копировали, года так до 2003. Даже уже забыла,что эти двле танцевали вместе.
