This is just a fun video on how I set up my 99 Amigo desert toy. I love Isuzu's and have owned 5 others. This is my 2nd 99 Amigo I've built, they work great, and are as tough as nails !
Check out my fun video of my last Amigo day in the desert below

I just purchased a 99 Amigo today. I’m looking through KZbin, I came across your channel. You mention you live in Northern Nevada. I live in Fernley. I was wondering if I can pick your brain on these Amigos. I’m coming from Toyota pickups. My experience with these Amigos is none. Anything you could share would be appreciated. Got me a 98 Rodeo V6 With 53,500 miles on it. I did a little torsion lift in front added 255 70 16 tires and got the 16x7 1/2 stock Rodeo mags from the bone yard stripped & polished them. Original owner hardly drove it. Retired teacher. She Did not even tint the windows or remove the plastic on the rear seat! I wonder if the timing belt has aged out or is it solely based on miles the engine? the thing is pristine inside & out. Last thing do you know what shocks to get? I was worried the Ranchos might be to large but I have no clue. This is a 2 WD I put Desert Dueler HT tires not trying to do much more than driving the rutted highways & some dirt trails here in Socal. Thanks Jeff

It will need to be cut near the rear and put a radius bend in it, with a new piece of tubing. This has to be done by someone that welds properly, and can bend and cut tubing. Crank up the torsion bars in the front, and Old Man Emu Rear springs. But you need to proper length shocks front and back, and be sure to do the mod to the left upper stay arm or it will hit in the gas tank / tank skid plate at full droop. Its also good to make limit straps if you run it hard , so the shocks dont top out in the back, and also keep a slight tension on the springs at full droop. Cheers Dale Walker

Yes they work great for exploring and general off road duty. I put over 8000 desert mile's on my first one I built, and they weren't easy miles. Super strong frame and drive train. The important thing is be sure to keep the transmission maintained and properly serviced, with the fluid level correct. Like a few others, it does not have a fluid level dip stick so many people just drive them until they blow up ! Its easy to check and maintain either on jack stands or a car lift.
