This same type of bike is my neighbor's only source of transportation and he was having a front carb issue. Your video helped us tremendously in getting him back on the road..You are truly awesome

I had no idea that the rear cylinder was #1. At least the removal of the front carb isn't to bad. Thanks for sharing.

First of all, that bike is in showroom condition. For a 20+ year old that is amazing, good job. I was just given a '92 800. I plan on chopping and bobbing and cleaning it up. But I gotta say, this bike is the weirdest, most unnecessarily complicated piece of machinery I have ever worked on. It's seriously took me all day to strip it down to motor and wheels. I had to watch this video just to figure out how to separate the choke line from the two carburetors. Turns out, the choke was just stuck in the carb. Everything is stuck shut....

If you're doing this. Just cut the damn plastic ties on the wires lol. It'll make ALL of this SOOOO much easier. And then just tie them back.

Does it take a special tool to fit the carb drain screw because i have stripped mine and having a hard time with it . thank you .
@mothershipmotorsports98022 жыл бұрын
Yes most Japanese bikes use JAL screws. It is has a special angle on the screw that makes it easy to strip when using a standard Phillips screwdriver. Just look for some JAL Screwdrivers. They are not expensive.
@geraldscott4302 Жыл бұрын
@@mothershipmotorsports9802 It's actually JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) You can buy JIS screwdrivers, but pretty much every Japanese motorcycle came with a tool kit that included a JIS screwdriver. You think this is hard, just try removing and reinstalling the carburetors on a Kawasaki Vulcan 750. It will make you want to push the bike over a cliff.

Do you rebuild the secondary carburetor also? Also, my intruder max mph is 65mph. Is that normal or what could or can I do to increase the mph or what’s wrong with it? I’m beginning to think because of my weight. I’m 265 pounds. I’m not obese, but I’m dead weight. Thanks
@mothershipmotorsports98022 жыл бұрын
Yes I rebuilt both, they are similar. That is NOT normal. I Had a similar problem, it ended up being restriction in the air filter. It was wet with oil blow back. I had to rebuild the carbs and re route the breather tube

The Rear carburetor is similar. Both are wedged in pretty good. The interior of the carbs is very similar.

This is a really stupid video to take all that apart and not replace the floats in the cabs. WTF. Mostly that is what starts causing the leaks.

I have never had a float problem on these bikes. So I have never needed to change them. Thanks for watching !
