holy crap the starter on my HDJ81 Landcruiser comes out from the side, with 2 bolts and a couple electrical connections in less than 30 minutes. this looked epic! oh and the connector were only $2 and it fixed the problem. total time was 1.5 hours including trip to parts store

Replacing the starter on my old Bronco years ago only took 30 minutes, and that includes the trip to the auto store! But my Land cruiser is almost 200K with no repairs needed yet so I can't complain. I think my starter is going out but after watching this video I think I will have someone else do it.

There are some rubber hoses that connect to the starter and what not used for ventilating the starter while keeping the dust out, might be related...

my brother replaced a starter on the same make and model....by himself. All is well, however, he's hearing an obvious vacuum sound when he turns the engine on. was wondering if you knew where he could start looking. thanks

Didnt realize why there were so many down votes until I just did it... glad I saved a bunch of time by not taking the upper intake manifold apart. Not too hard of a job

what was your inatichel problem to find out that it was your starter?

You did it the hardest way and cost more in gaskets. The manifold and throttle body will come out together. Also you don’t have to split the intake the way you did.

Holy smoke thank christ iv'e got the little brother cruiser "Prado" V6 , check out my starter repair it was a little easier than this job well done fellas .
