Mate, this is exactly the video I was looking for to save over $100 to replace the solenoid contacts rather than a whole new starter motor. Great work!!

awesome if not for the informative rebuild but for the little lines in between, very "OCCA" and now my kids a wife know there is others out there that do the exact same thing with their cars! Pops tools and the aptitude to take it on blindly well done to your pop and parents for giving you this ability and mind set.....just like i say to my kids "if you dont have a go, you will never know". its a dieing thing in the new generations i must say. Keep up the good work mate and hopefully one day you will pass it on to your kids as i am to mine!

Gotta do this on my 93' 80 Series here in the US, since the starter is taking more revs to start. Around the same cost to also do rebuild kit, $67, not too shabby! Great video mate! Keep up the good work!

Don't Sell yourself short son. I've had so called mechanics/engineers working for me for years that wouldn't hold a candle to you. You have a natural aptitude, trust me I served my apprenticeship with Rolls Royce in the sixties when trades were trades. Great style with video also. Well done, joe. Ireland

What could be the problem if your engine just cranks at a slow rate

Copper contacts, not a little earth wire but we got the point and the new contacts will definitely be able to handle the current better due to more surface area. Great video. I used to rebuild all my starter motors and alternators. Found out the hard way not to cut the commutator too far on the lathe too.

Hi, do you have a video how to replace starter Toyota land cruiser 80?
@forevercruisin67152 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, this is a video on rebuilding, if you watch the end it will show you how to install it so watch that part and it will be the same for a rebuilt or new. Cheers

Mate do you reckon you could get to the starter motor from underneath if you take off the wheel?
@forevercruisin67153 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, yeah you probably could, found it easier to go from the top/bottom for the bolts and plugs, if you go in through the wheel arch just needed to pull all the guards off and their are also a few solid brake lines you need to try and navigate through.

Drove my 80 all over Australia........never had a problem getting spares, engine rebuild kits? no problem !! service items? no problem!! the whole country is geared up to keep these old girls running. Got to the UK......fekin rubbish.....hard work finding the basics...... Take your spanners to Australia, its a spanner monkeys dream. Beer is ok...... Sydney chicks are a bit snotty...... Back of Burke is awesome.... Never a dull moment..... If I wasnt too old and poor I would move there........

WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS THAT WAS - JUST DID MY 1997 3.0 TD , UK VERSION (if it makes a difference) - JUST RIDICULOUS LOCATION , CANT GET YOUR HANDS IN THERE , SO MUCH STUFF IN THE WAY , TOUGH TO GET OUT FROM THE TOP (snagged off a brake line , im sure ill need to bleed) - OF COURSE THE SOLENOID PARTS REPLACEMENT WAS EASY - HAVE TO WRESTLE IT BACK IN TMRW AS I GOT STOPPED BY A THUNDER STORM - I TOOK OFF THE AIR BOX and i think removing the oil filter would help a bit , so do an oil change at the same time
