I got to watch Wade "Billy Johnson" Crane play a lot of pool at Comer's in Knoxville, TN back in the 90's when I was a teen. I even got to take a few lessons from him. He is still to this day the greatest player I've ever seen live. When he was at his best he was virtually unbeatable.

I’m with Danny’s daughter Jeanette. Danny is quite the character, but aren’t most pool players. He calls it just like he sees it. I’ve watched so many videos he has commented on. He really knows his stuff about this game. And many others. Also he definitely knows the moves of one pocket. Also I will add that Wade Crane had one of the most explosive and powerful breaks in pool. His cue ball would hop up about two feet in the air when he broke and then would sit in the center of the table as the balls would find their way to the pocket. Also he had a race to 9 where he shot a thousand. That’s what I was told anyway. Rest In Peace Wade “Billy Johnson” Crane.
@bonhzeppelin553 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeanette! I've always enjoyed your father's commentary, especially in the late 1980's! I loved how your dad relentlessly barbed [in a humorous way] Bill "Cardone" [as Grady Matthews would call him]. Billy would sometimes get on my nerves with his opinions, and I enjoyed Danny proving him wrong. I'd put your Dad up there with Grady in terms of pool knowledge and commentary. THE BEST! Regarding Boom Boom Crane... Buddy Hall was commentating a match - I forget who with - but it was a Crane vs Sigel match - i think. Buddy was talking about a 9 ball Tournament Wade was playing in and later won. Boom Boom was in Dead Stroke perfectly squatting the cue ball, as you said, running out taking down his opponents. Not sure if it was the finals but Buddy had to play him. Wade got a huge lead on him, and Buddy said he normally wants to get back to the table, but after the barrage of perfect pool Wade laid on him, he didn't even want to come back to the table. Lol. I'm not quoting him word for word, but it's essentially what he said. Hope you and Pop are doing well during C-19!

At 41:00 Danny banks the 5 ball to his pocket, but the 2 that was hanging in Wade's pocket disappears while off-screen. How did the 2 go in and still bank the 5?
@alistairs84955 ай бұрын
I looked it up: because Danny legally made a ball in his own pocket, the 2 ball counts for Mr. Crane and his inning continues.
@christopherwelsh70085 ай бұрын
@@alistairs8495 You misunderstood my comment. I don't understand HOW the 2 ball was pocketed on Danny's attempt to bank the 5. If the 5 touches the 2 on the shot, there should be no way to bank the 5 into Danny's pocket. I wonder if just the thump of the 5 on the rail was enough to make the hanging 2 ball barely topple in without any ball-to-ball contact? We will never know.
