I mean, it doesn't look like he had to take anything else off to do that, so that's a win in my book. I can throw my 03 focus that's dying on idle up on jacks as soon as i've got the part and get this fixed.

I've got a 2004 Ford Focus with the 2.0L SPI manual transmission. When it gets warmed up it will start to sputter when at an idle. Sometimes if I turn the heat on it will smooth out the idle, however sometimes it has no effect. I was told to replace my IAC valve. Thanks for this video!

There is also a vacuum tube that runs to the very back of the motor between it and the fire wall. It will collapse and cause the car to sputter at idle.

I was just watching this for fun. I have a 2006 Ford Focus you lift up the hood it's right below the throttle body easy to get to takes 5 minutes. I'm glad I don't have this model!

The Ford original is slightly different. Just above where the ford symbol is, it looks like what might be an adjustment knob. I am not sure what it is, do you know?

Just be sure. 90% of the time people think they have an IAC issue its actually the TPS or intake leak.

@@robertgary3561 Hi, Rob! Bingo, you're right, I had intake leak. :-) MAF sensor: cleaned. Throttle body: cleaned. IAC: changed. And finally: what about intake leak? Of course.. serious intake leak. Sealed. Problem solved. :-)

My focus has issues idling with the AC on, I have. Bad evap vent valve, which I'm going to replace soon, I thoight it might be the issue but having a vaccum leak should create a higher idle and allow the car to idle better under load. So my next though is to check the iac and then if the problem still persists im going to replace the ac compressor. It didn't have issues when I got the csr, it didn't have any refrigerant in it. When I had it added so the ac would work thats when the issue started. But my evap leak started at the same time soo.....idk. previous owner told me he replaced the compressor.

The original Ford parts are on big crapp !! if you buy a new oem iacv from Ford store it dies within 3 months! Also their Fomoco spark plugs are crap too! buy Ngk laser platinum, and replace parts with a good brand like Ngk or Bosch. Anything is better than the oem ford part.

Thank you guys so much! Got an 01 Mazda tribute with the 2.0 Zetec thats dying at idle with the a/c is on. Narrowed it down to the IAC.. Once I located it was wondering how to get to it. Duh from the bottom 🤦. Thanks again.

It affects the RPMS at idle, either too high or too low. They will go low if at idle with the A/C on.

I replaced the IAC (01 Focus ZX3) with an aftermarket unit (Hitachi ABV0038) trying to save a few bucks over an Motorcraft OEM and it has been nothing but trouble. My RPMs now hang around 2000 rpm while trying to shift gears. I'm not sure if I want to try another aftermarket IAC valve, but the POS Hitachi unit has to go.

So why would a part with O ring seals also need a gasket?? I thought that is the purpose of O rings??

The O rings block the air from passing from one hole to the other hole, ensuring that only the valve itself controls airflow. The gasket stops air from coming in from the sides. O rings prevent internal leaks and gasket prevents external leaks.

That Chinese part is no good to use , looks "similar" probably made them 80 percent profit. That gasket is also nothing like to double-O-ring design Ford uses. The Motorcraft part on rockauto is only a few dollars more.
