The mirror distortion is not really a problem to me. I don’t even have to look at my blind spot. I can see the car coming from behind then see the car on my mirrors and still see them in my side mirror. Then, I can see them on my side mirror and can still see the the back of the car as soon as I see the bumper of the car with the corner of my eyes. Without turning my head..

I have a 2015 accord coupe V6 and the major issue I’ve had with the car is the fact it has VCM where it turns off a bank of cylinders and creates an imbalanced engine. It causes premature wear for the front and rear hydraulic engine mounts which results is a very annoying vibration noise when VCM engages. In fact this issue can be found on any Honda with the J35Y1 (V6, 6AT) engine. In order to fix this I’ve replaced the engine mounts and install a product called a VCM Muzzler which plugs into the cars ECT1 port. Overall it’s a great car and I love driving it.

I have a 2013 Honda Accord EX-L. The mirrors are fine and the line is barely noticeable. Over a 130,000 miles now and the starter is working great. My car loses no oil and I check it often. The only paint chipping I have noticed is from rock dings or hail. The seats in this are very comfortable and the best I have ever had. I've owned my 2015 Honda Accord EXL V6 Coupe since new. At 33,500 I had the starter and battery replaced under warranty and 23,000 miles later everything is perfect. Excellent car with zero problems since. I currently have 56,400 miles on it and I plan on keeping it for 10 more years! I've done all the oil and filter changes, air and cabin air filters, as well as coolant flush and transmission drain and fill myself using only Honda fluid in the transmission. I've also replaced all 4 pads and rotors myself because Honda brakes don't generally last very long. Replaced all of them with Carquest Wearever Platinum pads and rotors at 45k and they have been amazing as well as flushed the brake fluid. Thats it. Tires lasted the full 55k! Replaced them with Pirelli P7 Citurado all seasons with 70k warranty. Fantastic car excellent firm but comfortable ride well built and very reliable and refined! My V6 is very smooth and sophisticated when relaxed and screams like a mini Ferrari when opened up wide at full throttle while still being buttery smooth! Love it!

I don’t know why you would need to replace the starter two or three times, you’d think they’d fix whatever problem they had from the beginning.

2014 Honda Accord Sport - Currently around 185k miles Issues I've experienced: 2. Starter - replaced at 170k miles 3. Oil consumption - I check my oil every two weeks and I always carry a spare quart in my trunk to top off. Some research on KZbin suggests I should switch my oil to Castro GTX synthetic as folks have mentioned they do a better job cleaning up the carbons within the engine to reduce oil consumption. Some have also recommended switching to 0W-30 synthetic oil if your oil consumption is really bad. The only downside is you'll experience a drop in fuel economy since your engine has to work harder with a thicker oil. 4. Paint chipping - some of the paint along the back of my car along the guidelines of the rear windshield have started to chip real bad. It's not that noticeable but if you look closely, you'll see it. At this point, the car is about to be 10 years old and I don't really care anymore. 5. Seats - they're ok for short trips but for long road trips they can be an issue

My 2014 Honda Accord EX Sedan just turned 70,000 miles this week and been the best car I have ever driven! Mainly because of it's ultra smooth CVT transmission and Earthdreams Engine with plenty of power:) No starter problems, Some oil consumption (because I have a short trip to work..8 miles). I add a little bit now and then but can go over 1.5 years w/o an oil change using Mobil1 Extended 0W20. I just changed the Oil, Filter, and CVT fluid too. Yes there are paint small paint chips on the front hood from driving 38 miles to work one way for the first 3 years but that is normal wear and tear! Yes I still have the excellent original Goodyear Assurance Tires with plenty of tread left. What tires do you think I will put on it next:) Did say it was a great car? Minimal issues with my 2015 LX, 78k miles. Mirror issue I never noticed.. maybe my car didn't have it. Zero challenges with the starter. Minimal oil dilution issues. Zero CVT slippage, even at steep grades. Had no problems with the CVT, and actually preferred the immediate "downshift" compared to other cars (2018+ Camry) having to hunt for the right gear when you just need to go. Averaged 36mpg per tank, 70% highway. Uncomfortable seats? Maybe his particular car with leather.. I did 6 hour drives with the cloth seats in the LX and was never uncomfortable. Really a great car. Only real issue was left rear power door lock stopped working. not a big deal since I rarely use that door. I could still manually unlock it with the button, and would just leave it locked all the time by default. Some wind noise in the rear.. overall road noise wasn't great, but I got used to it. Bluetooth always sync'd to the phone before I even got in the car. Always worked flawlessly. Backup camera was great. Tires.. while on the narrow/bubble side (205/65/R16), were at least cheap to replace.. $110 for Continental True Contact, which had better ratings than what came on the car, Pro Contact. The only main downside to the 4cyl Sedans is the cornering. Lots of body roll. However, at DriveAccord.net, you'll find forums on a simple easy 30 minute do it yourself rear sway bar upgrade that helps the understeer/body roll significantly. I never got around to doing it myself, but people are confident in it.

The starter fix for the v6 is u need to rotate the starter ringer gear/aka torque converter ring gear counter clockwise one bolt hole..anyone can do this within one hour by urself. I did this and only this to fix the starter grinding issue. While I was rotating the torque converter to remove the 8 12mm bolts I checked every sing tooth for damage. Mine had none. I haven't had a single bad start-up since this. The TSB from Honda says to rotate the torque converter ring gear counter clockwise one bolt and to buy a newer upgraded starter with the part number having a (A)in it. Do not use a reman or a eBay/Amazon starter that doesn't have the upgraded starter. Expect to pay $4-500 for the starter. Than there's also alot of complaints claiming that if u have a lower CCA battery like 550cca battery than this is a contributing factor to your grinding starter issue. So buy a more powerful batter. I believe these cars can handle around a 750cca battery. This is all known information put out by Honda in their TSB on how to fix the starter issue. Everyone I've known with the starter grinding issue and has followed this advice had fixed their issue. If ur starter ring gear/ Torque converter gear gets damaged it's gonna be more costly. So DO NOT WAIT to fix it. U can literally possibly fix it free just by rotating the ring gear as I did if u catch it with in a dozen grinds or so before there's damage caused..don't wait the fix is easy. Anyone that had questions just look it up. Or find me in 9th gen Honda accords on Facebook. Good look my Honda family.

The only real issues i had was the timing chain tensioner started failing at about 150K miles (quick noise on startup, no damage), and it can be replaced through a cover on the end of the block, through the wheel well. And the valve cover gasket started leaking oil at 200K miles. Paint still looks great. All the other things mentioned here, well, it doesn't match my experience. Even the seat cushion is still cushy. The oil consumption comment is right on target on a 2014 accord. It does consumme about 1/2 a quart per oil change ( every 3 or 4 k miles in my case) what I did was that in every oil change I started using 4 quarts 20 oil and one quart 30 oil. I notice an improvement with that. I did it since the car had over 60k miles and i thiught a little bit thicker oil woulnt hurt it.
@johnjkizer63992 жыл бұрын
If you continue to use different weight oil other than 0-20 you will do major damage to your engine, this engine is really tight and anything thicker than what it calls for cause internal damage. And always use full synthetic oil,
@EastCoasters4 жыл бұрын
Updated starter part number ends in A04(Most 15-17 Accords have this starter) Mirror distortion helps blind spot visibility. Use Lucas low viscosity for all 0-20 oil.. Take care of your paint.🥃

I own 2012 and a 2017 EX-L coupes with the V6. The mirror issue is very real on the 2017. Paint issues are very real on both and I've had my 2012's paint issues addressed. Oil consumption with both has been essentially zero. Great engines. The seats are great. Maybe because I'm a lot heavier, 212lbs and they fit me better.
@Thorn26694 жыл бұрын
You should really call the engine out as being the 4cyl for the oil and starter. Hondas burn oil at 250k to 300k because they last that long and beyond. An extra half court at that mileage = who cares.

I bought my 2013 ex-l coupe v6 brand new.... Its still awesome...this guy must have found a unmaintained dud because ... mine stills looks and drives like new but I also take care of my stuff....I got up to 159 in this car...only once though...still surprises me that a Honda has that kind of power...
@edanshutz88894 жыл бұрын
What do you consider as "using oil". My 2014 uses a little less than a quart in 5000 miles. As far as the seats go, I am a larger person than you and I really like them. They are on the firm side like most Honda's but I find they are more comfortable for distance driving than some cars with softer cushioned seats. As far as clear coat goes my car is not garaged and is a daily driver with nearly a 100k on it and the paint is near perfect. No clear coat peel at all. The mirror for me is not an issue and neither is the starter. Everybody has their likes and dislikes concerning automobiles and no car is perfect but I don't agree with your review of this generation of Accord based on actual ownership and experience with this car.
@1AAuto4 жыл бұрын
+Ed Anshutz Thanks for watching! These are just the top 5 issues that owner's of this model have mentioned, but not every vehicle will have them. It sounds like you are not burning off too much oil so it's not a real issue for you, but we still recommend you check on it at least once or twice between changes!

16 Honda accord sport here..There is issues with peeling "paint" on white hondas..mirror is funky..seats ok..at 4300k in between oil changes.. my oil level goes from jus slightly above full mark..to in between the marks..oil smells like strong gas..that concerns me..so iam gonna not go by the maintance minder..and change oil 5k inerveals..i hope she last me 10 plus yrs..atleast till i pay it off😂 can i switch to a 5w 20 oil on these cars to help with burning?...ty for the video 1A
@1AAuto4 жыл бұрын
+Eric Maeder Thanks for watching! You will still want to use the oil weight that the engine calls for. These are engineered a specific way and need to have 0W 20.

I have a 2017 Honda Accord touring V6 with 78,256 miles. Found out today I have a rear main seal leak between the engine and the transmission which they quoted me $2347 to repair. Thank God I bought the extended warranty seven years 100,000 miles because I’d be up poops Creek. Luckily I only paid $1300 for that warranty and it just paid for itself in spades. I’m not gonna lie I’m pretty disappointed I’ve owned four Hondas never had an issue like this all had V6 motors. Dealership claims they’ve never done a rear seal on a ninth GEN Accord V6 so maybe it’s a fluke. With that said I love the car it’s amazing it’s my favorite Honda of all time. I would’ve paid it if I had to because I love the car that much. Hopefully no one else has this problem. If you do post I’d love to hear.

I own a 2015 Accord Sport that I bought new and problems I’ve had are a Rear Wheel Bearing going bad, and replaced the battery twice because it’s too small. Cosmetic issues is the most concern now. A lot of the clips and tabs that held on plastic pieces and bumpers are wearing out. I’ve already had my whole inner fender well covering come off on the front passenger side. After it came off, the whole shroud under the radiator started to come off but I put zip ties on it to keep it from falling completely off. Bumper pieces are wearing out and seem like they will come off in a lil more time. Overal though, the car is a great car. Reliable as it gets as long as your battery good lol.

question on the starter issue: is it always the starter, or is it either the starter or the ELD? Just had my alternator replaced and they ended up finding out it was the ELD causing the issue starting (battery tester at Autozone was reading 12v and not 14v, but battery tested as good). but the faulty ELD apparently killed my alternator too.

2017 accord sport- 4 year ownership, I've had to replace 3 windows switches, my battery seems to die every 1-1/2 years (Florida heat I suppose) ac just now started to smell like mildew, fixed that with some cleaner, had both my DRL'S replaced under warranty. Rotors warped at 30k miles, had them and pads replaced, manufacture says fuel tank capacity is 17.2, I have yet to reach that, I can't pass 15 gallons and I average 23mpg city/345-360 on a tank. My radio has flipped upside down servers times then correcting itself after a few seconds. Other than those issues, car runs and drives fine, just wish there was more torque on the low end, you hit the pedal and it takes 2-3 seconds for the car to respond.

2014 base lx-s coupe with 155k miles; Mirrors are nitpicky, I have already replaced the starter so definitely agreed there. Oil consumption isn’t an issue? Never had any of those problems reported to me. I will say the paint on the edges of my hood is flaking off and exposing the metal underneath but just barely. The seats are fantastic. @@ajlee6933 acutually in the case of accord, this vibration problem(stopped in D) seems to be a design issue. Re-enforcing its motor mounts will not work so well.

How about valve cover gasket leaking oil?? I’ve seen this in many Accords & CR-Vs running that “Earth Dreams” engine
@ThreeNTheMornin3 жыл бұрын
That’s not an “issue”. The valve cover gaskets need to be replaced every 10 years or 100k miles. It’s a $400 service, the gasket just breaks down over time and causes a little oil to seep out causing an oil leak.
