10mm was not the correct Alan size for the caliper pins on my my 98 dodge 1500 4x4.. Mine was 3/8 - hopefully this can save anyone else as many trips to the store as I did to get the right socket bit!

That's a good review. These old floating calipers are held in V shaped grooves of the mounting bracket that can get rust jacking over time. Newer versions of the Ram were modified with clips to reduce that. The lower groove is seen at 11:28 of this video, on the lower left. There is a top one as well. For those who have these old style calipers, it would be wise to file down rust on the mounting bracket and the part of the caliper that has to slide in the grooves freely, then apply a small dab of caliper grease or antiseize there to prevent the caliper body from binding when it floats.

Thank you for sharing, 2 vehicle's ago I went through the same steps comparing rotors, until my brother saw something wasn't right, he flipped both rotors face to face and the stud holes were about 3/16 difference. Hello I'm doing my front brakes and rotors on my 99 1500 4x4 5.2l, my pads came with 4 rubber bushing i can see where the bigger rubber bushing or seal goes on the end of the caliper bolt but i have i have a flatter round indented rubber seal or bushing and then just 2 rubber o-rings where does the flat one and the 2 o-rings go? I have 4 sets so each caliper bolt has the end piece and the other 3

GREAT vid, Len! THANK YOU! I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 and I really want to do the brakes myself. I also saw the vid for the rear brakes. That vid was EXCEPTIONALLY WELL DONE! Absolutely everything was shown and explained how to do. All I have to do now is, to work up the nerve to do it all! (LOL) One question, though... Shouldn't you clean the new discs with something prior to installation? Thank you, Len!!!

After finishing the drums i spun the wheel and it’s very tight. Barely gets moving. Could it be because of the 33’s? I didn’t check before so I don’t have any comparison but when I opened it they did get tighter so I’m just gonna ride it out

Great video just a couple questions. After you install the pads on one side, do you pump up the brakes till you get a hard pedal before you do the other side and then just repeat the process? Another words pump the brakes each time you finish a wheel. Also, can you use white lithium grease on those sliders?

No one ever takes the time to explain the cooling fins on rotors and identifying directional rotors on dodge ram specifically; it sure would help a lot if directional rotors were touched upon more when rotors/ pads etc were being installed. I tried the screw-driver trick on my dodge ram to see if I have directional rotors, but it didn't tell me anything because I was able to install the screwdriver either way. Any help out there? thanks!!!!!!!!!!

The caliper slider seals should have been replaced. Sometimes they come with the new pads. The inner seals seemed to be missing.
