I hate this GM engine oil filter placement. So stupid. 100% blind the whole time with no wiggle room. Plus your arm is right on the exhaust manifold which I’m sure the quick lube techs enjoy when they come off the road at operating temp.

Always check the oil filter base for old oil filter seals. Just because the seal was on the one you took out does not guarantee there is not one from a previous oil change.

Thank you GM for making this filter a huge pain in the ass. Do engineers even have an ounce of common sense for maintenance later? Priming the filter is a great idea. However, with this vehicle I can see myself pouring half of it out trying to get it re-threaded. ha

@BlackoutBilll214 жыл бұрын
db d not possible... just wipe off where it runs... or place rags where you think it will drip
@j4kethegreat914 жыл бұрын
I have read to make a hole in the filter so it drains before you take it off and that gives you a clean removal

@@sirsweetness8332 What I have done is find a flexible plastic funnel. The kind with an extension tube on it. It has to be flexible, not rigid. May take a while to find. Then I cut it out a bit on one side so I can still turn the oil filter and I push this down into place (cursing and swearing as I go from the heat). I place it under the little metal spillway under the oil filter. I then put on the extension tube so it hangs out the bottom of the vehicle. My drain pan goes underneath. Then when I loosen the oil filter it drips on the metal spillway and into the funnel and then into the catch pan. Annoying as hell to do but this method has allowed me to make an oil change with next to no mess at all. If you want a picture of the funnel with cutout get in touch.
