Excellent video. Always appreciate the 1A training videos especially with the k1500 as I have a 97 Yukon. One tip I learned was a seam ripper. For like stitching. A neat little hand tool that protects the wires you're trying to avoid cutting. And gets clean and safe cuts through loom and tape

I want to thank you for such an easy DIY VID on this subject. I've asked several so called Mech and watched several other videos and for some reason, I think they just wanted to look intelligent rather than take the simply road and explaining just as you did. Every single question I had was answered without watching this vid several times. Now I'm confident I can do this myself. Great job!!!

so the wires don’t have a order to go in you can just cut which ever side u want longer ? they both connect to either side ?

No if you take the new connector and the old connector and face them the same way, just match the wire on each side and go from there

Do you have to twist the ends of the wire together before the shrink tube? Like or they just have to ever so slightly be touching inside the tube to make contact with one another?
@aer8nadam2 жыл бұрын
I noticed that the new replacement plug has 16 gauge wire and the OEM has 18 won't it just cause the wires to heat up now because the new plug isn't going to fail like the OEM If someone uses higher watt bulbs in the future I think you should be show you replacing the whole wires with 16 gauge from the starting point to the headlights and then it's definitely not going to happen again or cause a fire I would like to see a video of that if you can make one I have noticed that pretty much every newer vehicle has problems with the OEM wiring I'm not sure when they started doing this but it is a really big problem now and I think the auto industry needs to address the issue right away and be held responsible for using under rated wiring Thank you

Let me apologize in advance for my stupid questions, and thank you for posting this. The tool you use to strip the wires, what size did you say the wires were, and how easy is it to strip them? Is there a way to replace only a portion of the wormlike plastic tube covering everything as a piece of mine is starting to crack? I just want to take a moment to thank you. I dont have money to repair this. I just had an emergency and used all of my bills and the little xmas money I had. I'm hopeful the parts and tools needed will not bea lott. I had no idea what I was going to do as my sticker is expired. Seriously, you are a lifesaver. Anyone reading this please wish me luck. Seriously, I mean it. You dont have to disconnect battery nothing will short out aslong as vehicle is off and light switches are off the only time the power for lights would be on and possibly cause a short while working on it is if the vehicle is on or light switch is turned on

How does one go about identifying and locating the correct matching connector type replacement for a wire harness? I Have a 2012 VW Passat SE 2.5L Automatic. A few years ago I had to replace the Leak Detection Pump. In the process of removing the connector from the old pump I damaged the connector clam such that when I installed to new Dorman Leak Detection Pump, I was unable to get the connector to snap on and lock onto the new Pump because the little clip/clam which secures the connector to the pump has been damaged such that the EVAP system says that It does not have a good signal thus I have been unable to stop the ODB II EVAP leak code from stopping. I have searched VW parts website but unable to identify the exact type of connector. Is there an International Registry of Connectors for all cares made (Foreign and domestic) .. If I pulled an old connector from a Junked auto matching the year , make and model, I like would have to cut the old connector and splice to the old wire harness. But I need to know where I can purchase a replacement connector or harness with the connector

I wouldn't recommend it, I did this on my Ford f150, it was misfiring because lack of conductivity from use the barrel connecters, so I took them off and just wired them together then sodders them with heat shrink wrap. For better connection.
