Great video, if I only wanted to replace the easiest of the six plugs and wires. You REALLY need to expand this video to include all six plugs and wires, especially the passenger side, which is far more complex than the driver's side.

I have a 2002 4.0 edge, and last time I replaced my plugs and wires I found it a lot easier to access and see what I was doing by taking off both front tires and the "dirt flaps" (if your truck has them) other wise you're kinda feeling around blind changing them.

Very helpful video, just be aware that not all the spark plugs are that simple to get to and replace. I did this on a 2005 Ford Ranger 4.0 V6 engine and some (especially the passenger side plugs) are VERY hard to reach with your hands and a wrench because it is underneath a lot of other stuff. additional work is required to take things out of your way to get to the plugs.

These guys are great, I feel like I own their red truck at this point. Gave them some business as a thank you. Still, on this one they missed the mark, at least for the passenger side. There's no way I could ever get the plugs off without taking out the wheel well. It's not bad at all - 7 bolts and a bit of wrestling. Then remove tire. With a u-joint-like spark plug socket you can get to the plug near the firewall and also safely pull off the boots without ripping off the rubber part and leaving the metal part on the plug. Save yourself a lot of aggravation and come in from the side not from the top.

Save yourself a bunch of time and frustration and do the passenger side by going in from the wheel well. He should have showed that here because they are nearly impossible to get at, especially if you have air conditioning.

I just did the plugs and wires on a 2001 Ranger 4.0 L. I did the driver side from the top. For the passenger side I removed the right front wheel and fender liner. The toughest one for me was the center plug on passenger side. I could see everything pretty well but that rascal is behind the AC stuff and it was one tight fit to get the socket and extension in there.

Actually, there is still life in the old plugs. Back when I was poor I would use a wire wheel and clean off the old plugs really well and get another 15-20 thousand miles out of them. Now that I am not poor, I am too damn old to do major vehicle maintenance and repairs.

In general? Almost every part of the truck, these things are old. To effectively keep your ranger "like new" and running though; -----> radiator coolant, engine oil, air filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, fuel injectors, transmission fluid, differential fluid, new battery, and check the few remaining vital fluids. Congratulations, you have just caught up with almost all regular/basic maintenance needed to keep your truck running. After that, regular oil changes and air filter replacements are mostly what you need aside from major intervals (ex: 50k miles, 75k miles...)

This video is a waste of time! However, good tip about using dielectric grease to repel moisture and protect the electrical connection against corrosion. But wasn't this video specifically about how to change the spark plugs on Ford Ranger truck with 4.0L V6? I remember when I did this a few years back for my brother, that two of the sparkplugs were nearly impossible to change. In fact, my brother had a mechanic on Craigslist tune-up his truck but the mechanic wasn't able to change the two difficult sparkplugs! I had to install the other two. I believe I had to remove the front tire and get to the sparkplugs from the fender well. This video is a joke. A better title for the video would be "how to use dielectric grease!"
