johnm2012 It is possible she was born in the middle of nowhere, as it is doubtful that a human who cared so little about her would put the work in to travel so far to dump her. So sad for the mom. It is a miracle Dean found her no matter the circumstances. I agree, her story is so uplifting. If a human did dump her in the middle of nowhere hopefully Karma will return the favor.

I do animal rescue. I believe ALL animals respond to our love - when given the opportunity. Why do humans think we are the only ones with brains and a heart. Take the time to show them what's out there, give them the love that should go with it and you will see that WE are SECOND to them. Without question.

If you never betray them or make them think they can't trust you, a cat will form a close relationship, as close as anything or anyone, with you. They may not all do what Nala does but they are all extraordinary if given a chance. They never forget a betrayal, though, and most likely will never trust in the same way again after losing that trust. Just my exp

The van might be the answer. He and Nala can still bike around, but in the van they will be safer, can sleep, she can stretch out and ride, good for hot times and bad weather too. (bike in the back ready when needed)

Did you forget? Dean is a cyclist! Meaning - he loves to ride bikes. Maybe not your preference - but, it's his adventure, and Nala is at the center of it. It isn't anyone else's adventure.

Both Dean and Nala are beautiful spirits .. whom it’s very obvious we’re meant to find each other/ be together.😁 I’m looking forward to following their adventures, can’t wait to get started (given my love of and with hubby and I still after many years.. missing our three long departed cats, plus my now being housebound (genetic disorder caused mobility, along with numerous other health issues.. 1:53 It's the Kitty Dish!!! I had a cat who liked to sit in the dished area of my Suburban when we were hitched up to the camp trailer and on the road. Her brother slept in the back seat the entire time we were driving but she loved either curling up in her kitty dish or sitting in the passenger seat with her nose either pressed to the glass to watch the world go by or pressed to the air vents so she could sniff the airs of many places. Like Nala, she was my Intrepid Girl Explorer although she wasn't keen on being harnessed up for walks. She preferred to view the world through her windshield or out of the trailer windows.

I’ve seen quite a few cats riding with their long-haul trucker Dads, here in the US. They’re the best cure for long-haul loneliness, and the truckers provide loving, if mobile, homes for rescued cats.

I wanted to get my cat comfortable with traveling too. Tried just driving the backroads in my neighborhood with him loose on the cab with me, and I had the same results. He'd climb on me, then when I took a turn, he'd fall off, trying to hold on with his claws all the way down. He never mellowed out and went with it, so I never attempted any long road trips. Wouldn't have been fair to stress him out like that. This guy is really lucky to have gotten Nala so young that she learned to like traveling. My cat was already several years old when I got him. Would have loved taking him on adventures more than anything.

I was brought up with cats, we had a whole tribe of the furry little buggers. It was usually when they got older that they became more like Nala. To have such a bond with a young cat is a rare and beautiful thing. Good luck to the both of you.

I love my cat. She is a sweetheart and would not hurt a fly. She points out spiders to me that get indoors, but won't mess with them. Too prissy. Your cat is amazing. I took mine outdoors once and a raindrop hit her on the head and all hell broke loose. Definitely not a traveling on a bike kitty. They are just as unique as people.
