In the past I made a video how to make low budget ($1) converter for after market headunit and steering wheel control of my car. Later I decided to make my "how to video" private due too many further questions which I was not able to answer because I am just a passionate geek and not definitely a professional... Well, the device I made is not actually a converter - my system is using just resistor series (basic electronics) which I can make my Android radio to understand as long as It have a "learning function" for any kind of resistance controlled SWC. Some of the SWCs have exact values of resistance (in the case they work with this resistor based system), and some of the HU are using ecact table of values for resistance - so you have to follow some datasheets and do some research according to your situation. Again, if your headunit or steering wheel control works in resistor mode. My "converter" (resistor serie) can use random values with "enough gap" between the values which allows my HU to read and understand which button was pressed - it have a learning function (as mentioned before).
