Enjoyed the video even though I’m a W124 guy (‘87) and It’s a gas burner. I’ve dealt with a few of the same issues that you had on your W126. You’ve really got it looking good and mechanically sound.

General makes a great tire that fits these (195/70-14, I believe). It's called Altimax RT45 (formerly RT43).

1984 300SD 214,000 (TMU) has new nozzles balanced injectors, EGR and ALDA delete and vacuum system set up for those changes. Car has plenty of power, pulls hills well and I rarely, close to never use full throttle. Most driving is 45-50 mph on twisty rural 2 lane, mileage is 30 mpg, +/- a fraction.

I run Zyrex G05 yellow coolant in my '84 petrol W126. My later model BMW uses the blue stuff, but I agree that the green is a no-no in these cars.

great video. I've been watching you for a few years. I have an 1984 300sd that I bought from the original owner in 2012. I really need to go through it and start restoring it. I'm a long haul trucker, so I rarely get to drive my Benz when I'm home. I want to make it daily as well. I really like the color combo on yours.

Very nice video, I have a w123 diesel but most of the things you mentioned also apply. Vito actually has a video on replacement of the axle boots the "easy way" using a pneumatic tool to slide the boots over the cans. If done that way you can't use the factory boots because they won't be able to stretch enough. I've fitted the astoria 2000 boots on my w123 axles using the pneumatic tool just like Vito does and it's a pretty easy job if done that way. Anyway thanks for the quality content !

I gotta say you're video production quality is very good. I thought you had a few hundred thousand subs with this level of quality, you definitly deserve the subscribers you have and many more. As for the hood pad. I bought one from FCP Euro, and the Mercedessource installation kit all for less than $100 dollars and put it on and it made my car much quieter and nicer to drive. Pierre Hedary has installation instructions. It's easy, just a two man job.

I thought that the overflow tube on the filler went back into the tank. Mine popped off once on my 85 300d and got fuel into that well. It took me a while to figure it out because I had a 3 gallon plastic fuel canister in both wells. I threw that one away because I thought it had sprung a leak. Needless to say, that was not it. I finally looked up under there and found that tube had popped off. I simply put it back on with a hose clamp to hold it. If you take your glove box out, you should be able to reach that vacume pot that controls the flaps on the center vents. There are three phillips screws hold it. It takes a very short screwdriver to get at it, but I did it on mine. You have to do it pretty much by feel, but you may be able to get a dentist mirror in there. Unhooking it from the flap is easy, and attaching a new one is not hard either. I always had my valves set at the dealer. Not something I ever wanted to try. When my balljoints went bad I took the control arm to a mercedes specialist and had him press out the old and press in the new ones. They were so bad when I bought the car that the car would start shimmying so badly I'd have to pull off the road and then start up again. I had that car in San Diego, so rust was never a problem. Have a good weekend.

Just though about something, was the vent pipe inside the tank serve the function of releasing the moisture in the tank? If the vent pipe is clogged up and that's the reason for rust. Before 2005,ive never had the rust on my fuel cap. Now it's happening on both my 82 300sd and 87 300sdl. 🤔🤔
@ImpalamansGarage7 ай бұрын
I think water just finds its way in there regardless of how well things are vented.
