"CHESSIE SYSTEM, The Final Days Part I and Part II" , being a success, and many of you have asked for more, here is a PART III.
I want to thank my viewers for the interest in this older stuff.
I have a good bit more of pure Chessie in the CSXT era that may be add to new parts if the interest is still there..
CSXT is a reality in 1988, and power from all the joined railroads is showing up everywhere. This clip, like Part I andPart II, is nothing but pure Chessie painted locomotives. Some already have been patched with small CSXT decals on the cab.
Here is the link to the successful PART 1
• CHESSIE SYSTEM, The Fi...
and Part II
• CHESSIE SYSTEM, The Fi...
Thanks for watching. Please be sure to check out my many other video clips from the 1970's up to today.

So sad to see that the CEOs of today's class 1 railroads have ruined what railfans used to love. Hopefully one day we will get back to stuff like this. Great video series jack! Love this classic stuff!

The very last time I seen any Chessie locomotives was in the summer of 1998 in Knoxville, TN. They were pretty rough looking. But I was glad to see them one last time.

As a kid growing up in Gainesville NY we had an average of 3-5 trains a day. Chessie and B&O engines mainly. It’s what started my love of trains. Thanks so very much for your videos, especially the ones from Wyoming County NY

CSX has one now. But it's painted half and half, CSX paint scheme at the nose and cab and Chessie System towards the back and the typical blue/yellow color up top as well

I like that last train. Engines at the front and engines in the middle. I'd love to have seen if there were cabooses on these trains. It was fun to see a caboose and wave to the guy in it.

How time passes. Had a few in my immediate familiy that were on the Chessie crew. Memories of Grafton and Cumberland dance in my mind. Makes me homesick for those days. I really enjoyed this whisper from the past. I think this is the same guy that I use to talk with when Google+ was still alive. Anyway, everyone have a great year!

WOW! Now that was absolutely ONE amazing VIDEO Jack! Brings back memories of when my friends and I visited the region back in the early 80s into the late 90s! In 97 my friend and I were quite amazed at one of the helper sets. 2 SD45-2s! 1 ex Clinchfield still in black and yellow! And a Family Lines SD! They were both running elephant style!

Oh my gosh Jack that was freakin awesome. I’m a Conrail fan and I bleed blue, but that was a great video. For so many years I never knew what Sand Patch was all about, then I got sandpatch for Microsoft Train Simulator and I understood! Those crews strapped up and went to war with that grade everyday! What an underrated piece of railroad from a rail fan’s perspective. Thank you for posting this, keep them coming!!

Thanks, Glad you enjoyed it. Sand Patch was a grerat place to go. Real mountain railroad that really tested the men, and machines. It sure isn't as fun going there anymore. With all the code lines gone, everything has grown in, and you can't shoot at most of the place I went to. Thanks for watching...

Read in Wikipedia, I believe, that Chessie System's primary traffic was coal, steel and autoparts, with a growing trailer train presence in later years. And, maybe the best of the modern paint schemes.

7:25 - Ten engines! On one train! I didn't hear a single one not running either! That SD40-2 in the back wasn't very happy though, at high throttle settings, the turbo's clutch can stick, leading to insufficient airflow and a rich burn, hence the intermittent smoke.

I think a decent chunk of CSX that isn't GEVOs or Dash-9s is still old Chessie, Seaboard and Conrail equipment, but it's been a long time since you could see any of them in their true colors.

Great that these videos exist. Too bad the resolution isnt all that good. The guy running the camera did not know how and when to use the camera zoom. Many screens showed too much background, and the subject matter was too far away for too long. When the locos came close, the camera followed the lead loco. Oh boo! Follow the last loco down the track. At times watching this guy's Chessie videos was annoying knowing that they could have been much better.
