@@FyBurz how far would you run that corning flat stuff? Would you trust it for use as a main distribution line in a rural area?
@FyBurz Жыл бұрын
@@deepspacecow2644 well this is just short of 1km, I’ve spliced together 3km worth of flat drop. And you can get 12F Flat drop so I’m sure it would work fine for rural distribution 😅

How great that remote customer has fiber optic service courtesy of your incredibly hard work out in the wild, in the middle of winter too! Great job.

I got exhausted just watching those pole climbs! I guess you have no need for gym visits? Great videos so keep up with the good work! Does the customer pay extra for a 1km drop or is that supplied by the ISP?

Thanks man. Yea this was genuinely very physically challenging I wasn’t at my fittest there either 😅 I workout everyday now. Minimum 100 pushups a day 💪🏼 the video doesn’t really do the drop justice. This holds the spot for toughest drop ever. Took me 3 days by myself

Curious how much it cost that Customer to get a Fiber drop that far. I’ve seen $10,000+ for a few hundred feet extension. Crazy how much work goes into a single connection

Seriously impressive work. No idea at all how I came upon this video, but watched it entirely. Curious, which is worse, doing this in the cold and snow or heat of summer? I would think in the summer you'd be swatting mosquitoes and that would be a real drag while climbing a pole. But what do I know?
@FyBurz Жыл бұрын
Haha, well thanks for watching! I hope it earned a sub 😅 And you got it right… tbh this job would of probably been a bit easier to hike in the summer but even that’s a gamble because of all the branches, brush and terrain. Plus bugs and animals would be a nightmare 😩 And the heat adds a whole new level of difficulty for sure.

why do you guys not use j hooks instead mid span clamps? just curious good work though
@FyBurz Жыл бұрын
Where would you use a j hook over a span clamp? Although these are “self support” drops they need to run along the existing strands.
@kennypowers1206 Жыл бұрын
@@FyBurzwe run our drops right below the existing strand like maybe 6 inches and use j hooks and the same p clamps you’re using to sag them. This is US though so probably different specs, but that way if the main fiber gets tore down the line crew can lash a new piece up and the drops are not in the way of it.
@FyBurz Жыл бұрын
@@kennypowers1206 yeah that seems super odd to me the strand is there for a reason, and the way a hang drops doesn’t trap the mainline. In some odd cases it might but there’s usually a workaround and I’m always actively trying to avoid trapping the strand
