​@@JustAGuy1712 the only thing stopping Vegeta from being a character with a complete character arc is his will to surpass Goku, him accepting Goku as superior is amazing character growth, gt Vegeta was the most powerful saiyan according to baby and Vegeta now fights not to surpass Goku but to protect his family and friends. Super Vegeta regressed as a character from Z, he's still tryna surpass Goku although this character arc ended in the Buu saga. They managed to make a bit more sense of Vegeta's character in the Broly movie, with him not letting his ego in the way and wanting to stop freeza from becoming more powerful, but still, he regressed as a character.

Just a nitpicky correction. Goku in GT is depoweredish to the state he is in the intro of that show, but not compared to Z. He beats in base form someone who is at least as powerful as "Boo" (people will arguee which, but assume fat Buu and that is still his old SSJ3 level or higher in base). Whatt GT does better is.... storytelling. You don't need everyone to be superman to create a good justice league plot that uses different character with different skills power sets and levels (see the now old DCAU, specially the first episodes of Justice League). And it has the common sense of not just making the key to beating the enemy be punch very hard. That is why the other characters remain relevant. Powerlevels are broken, but it wasn't just raw power what was needed, so other characters can work.

I liked the idea of the shadow dragons. It was cool to add actual consequences for using the dragonballs so much. And I like SSJ4 and the concept of bringing saiyans back to their primal roots. But those are the only things I like in GT.

No way! there is no way that dragon ball super animations is better than dragon GT. The animation looks a lot more natural in GT, similar to Dragon Ball Z. The animation and super looks more goofy in plastic and there’s some parts where it has sloppy drawings like when Goku was in super saiyan 1 and 2 when he first meet Beerus. And gohan animation looks so much more natural as a nerd than on super. On super they made The nerdy version of him look super scrawny and more like a pushover

the only arc in Super that had potential to have stakes was the Evil Goku arc because it took place in the future. We know Goku will train Oob at the end and everybody there is alive. But the reason why the Evil Goku arc had no stakes was the Zeno Button and it was introduced very early signifying that the entire fight against Evil Goku was pointless. We didn't need to go through the awful Spirit Sword or ruin Vegito for fan service. But we got them anyways wasting everyone's time for nothing. And despite losing his universe, Trunks got over it quickly treating the arc like a happy end. I don't know when the animation of Super is better than GT except maybe the final arc where all fights look the same and animation gets recycled more often than in Digimon Adventure, a low budget series. I think you may like reading the Super Dragon Ball Heroes mangas

The biggest problem with super to me was that writers seemed to care more about fan service than just creating a compelling story. There were things in gt that fans didnt want to see, like goku becoming a child again, but added more tension to the story moving forward. Sacrificing story for the sake of gratifying fans will never be ok in my book.

I tried watch DBSuper but for me it doesn't seem DB or DBZ, something else entirely. The childish jokes, lighter tone, the way they approach transformations. It felt...shallow. I start rewatching DBGT recently and you really feel is part of DB/DBZ universe. The characters are treated seriously, their development are belieavable. It is lovely seeing the relationship among Pan, Gil, Goku and Trunks shifts during the search for the dragon balls in the first arc. It is similar to what we had in DB with Bulma, Goku, Yamcha and Puar. SSJ4 transformation is a much more fresh and yet loyal to the lore take than just turn them powerful instantly. The idea of making the saiyans evolves by conquering their so well known in the series berserk side so they can turn into more powerful beings is incredible so as the idea of making the corruption for the power of the dragon balls being the closure for the series. What it was their salvation in many ocassions turned into their possible doom. It is ironical and poetical.

DBS wasn't either. Yeah he wrote the outline of the script, but after all the interviews with AT and Toyotaro, after all the additions TOEI and Toyotaro did, after all the info db official provided. It becomes clear TOEI and Toyotaro did not follow Toriyamas script 80% of the time, the only things they kept were endings of each arc. Goku was stronger than Hit in his script, what did anime do? Goku Black and Zamasu were weak in the script and needed fusion to become a problem for SSBlue. What did we see in the anime and manga? There was no Vegito fusion in Goku Black arc. What do we see in anime and manga? There was no UI and MUI in his script, Jiren was not so strong in the script, Kale was not in the script. Might as well say AT did not write dbs, he only did ROF and Broly(doubts it was his idea, more like TOEI asked to canonize Broly) and re-wrote Battle of Gods, DBS Super Hero is the only movie where AT was actually, for real ACTUALLY heavily involved.

Super is not good. It is fanfiction tier, it can still be fun but narratively it has none of the magic/stakes of Dragon Ball through the Cell, and even Buu sagas. GT was far superior. The only things I like about Super are characters like Beerus/Whis -- and the Zamasu arc was good. But overall it's just become parody of what dragonball was.

Well Goku being turned into a kid didn’t weaken him. He was at base level in GT easily overpowering fighters than he could as a SSJ3 in Z. His small body just had stamina issues holding the SS3 form. Until he grew his tail back.

Late to the video but here are some more reasons GT is superior 1: It goes back to small details that seemed not so important at the time in DBZ. During the namek saga when vegeta tells the legend of the super saiyan, he mentions that the last person to become a super saiyan could only maintain the power in the giant ape form . The scene shows a giant ape with golden fur , similar to how baby vegeta looked in his giant ape form in GT. Whether it was intentional or not, this made perfect sense. 2: At the end of gt, when the dragon balls crack due to their overuse, it shows the characters getting basically punished for every wish they made from the time of dragonball until the end of GT. This puts a nice end to the use and abuse of the dragonballs power and therefore a fitting end to the story named after them.... 3: Super supposedly takes place in between the end of the buu fight and the end of z(where goku meets uub). There are no indications in the end of z arc that any of the events in super occurred. None of the characters from super are present, goku's insane power increase is also not there. So super basically retconned manga canon, in which GT did not.

#2 is a nice call back to what thenold supreme kai said in the Buu saga about abusing the draon balls. And it wasn't just a call back nostalgia" 'member this?" sort of deal. An example would be how they say if supreme Kai dies then beerus dies then whis would die ? So it could easily be written if beerus dies with no successor then all god ki dies aswell. At the end of Z in the dub they say it’s been 5 years since everyone saw each other even though the time between kid buu and end of Z is 10 years

I don't mind the Buu arc, the only reason why I prefer Frieza and the Cell's arcs is that the villains are interesting I know Cells motivation as a villian is weak but his charisma was infectious and I loved it. Buu as a villian had no charrecterization but I guess it was by design I'm not sure?

2 years later and this rings even more true. current super kinda borrows some ideas from GT which is interesting considering GT can’t exist in this timeline, like Trunks becoming Capsule Corp’s president, it does not change how lacklustre these arcs have been. Moro started strong and ended so poorly imo, Granolah is boring and raises a lot of questions retconning the story in ways that make it worse imo, and superhero is just Cell saga redux, but again more boring. People kept saying during the first couple arcs of super “oh just wait a bit, they’re still building things up and building the world after introducing the gods yadda yadda,” we are well past waiting for a good story at this point.

I outright dislike super, mostly for the God stuff. It was all so hollow and meaningless. Aren’t Gods and Kais supposed to have responsibilities to their Galaxy? What are Goku and Vegita’s responsibilities now that they’re Gods? Shouldn’t it be impactful and matter beyond just fighting? Apparently all that changed is they’re red, then blue, and way stronger. Then they have God ki Goku and Vegeta fight against enemies just as strong as them that aren’t Gods at all, disproving that they needed to be gods in the first place. Why? None of it was necessary, and all of it is stupid. Also to your point about Evil Goku, I agree, that would be fun, but the future timeline is the wrong place to have him appear in. Goku died a hero there, him coming back as a villain would break my suspension of disbelief twice over.

The writers could have built a really great manga about Saiyans but instead they gave us a gay alien, an alien in a bug suit, and a pink blob. Looking back, it really wasn't all that great. There were some great moments like Goku going SSJ1, Gohan going SSJ2, Trunks appearance, and the Fusion Reborn and DBZ Broly movies. However, Frieza, Cell, Buu, Vegito, and SSJ3 were really lame.

I like super better than GT because the moment to moment is more interesting and they don’t throw away as many characters to complete irrelevance. I watch super as like an epilogue with its own identity not expecting it to feel or be exactly like DBZ, which is another reason why I like it. It feels fresh enough. Don’t hate GT but definitely don’t enjoy watching as much as any of the other shows.

I would say the majority of the big villains such as baby and omega Shenron were above buu, but half of that series took place in space searching for the black star dragon balls. nothing they came up against in space was on buu's level. Yeah I think GT tried to recapture og DB elements and DBZ elements. SSJ4 makes way more sense and sticks to the Saiyan lore. GT isn't perfect and neither is DBZ for that matter, but Super is just terrible. I don't care about Beerus. An Egyptian cat immortal god yeah ok whatever... and that all powerful Mr. Towley looking mf? It is so stupid. The transformation suck too. OG DB was great and DBZ up until Frieza was also great. DBZ Broly movie was a perfect movie. Fusion Reborn was almost perfect (fat janemba was stupid but Super Janemba was second only to Broly as far as villains go). GT was great with SSJ4 and Baby Vegeta. Baby Vegeta, Omega Shenron and Android 17 was not as cool as Super Janemba or Broly, but they were alright villains better than Frieza, Cell, Cooler, and Buu.

Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Blue) are Dragon Ball Z transformations, not Dragon Ball Super transformations. They debuted in Dragon Ball Z: Battle Of Gods, and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F, before Super was ever even a thing.

This is a pretty superficial technicality. I'm clearly referring to the original DBZ story that ended after the buu arc. And while those 2 movies carried the dbz name, they were the launching point for the new series. Nothing about these movies is reminiscent of the original dbz. I think we both know, along with everyone else who has watched this video, what distinction was being made. But think of it however you wish. Thanks for the watch! 🙂

@@1MannzOpinion This was not an insult or a detractor, more of a nitpick. I was saying you can't blame Super for those forms, if anything you can blame those forms for Super. Another small nitpick I have is that you brought up how with his crazy potential, Frieza should just train for a bit and completely outclass the heroes, and he does. With the latest manga chapter revealing Black Frieza and all. However, I dropped that one as the video came out a while before Black Frieza was revealed. The last small nitpick I have is that you claimed the characters got weaker in GT, while most of them, the Saiyans at least, are stronger than they were in Z. Super did WAY more of a powerjump, so I am not bashing your point, but the characters in GT are still pretty strong, so it isn't entirely correct to say they were grounded and weakened. Only Goku really got nerfed.

Just for me personally I found gt very hard to watch... now don't get me wrong... ssj4 is very cool and probably my personal favorite transformation. But there were some things that really bothered me about gt... one of which being how Vegeta became ssj4... vegeta would never... ever let a machine cheat him into power

It wasnt a cheat. It was an aid. He had the power to become ssj4. He just didnt have a tail. Vegeta has always relied on a machine as a means of getting stronger. A prime example is the gravity chamber. Vegeta's go to piece of machinery to get stronger. Another aid was the scouter. Though it didnt help him get stronger, it still was machinery that he used and relied on.

I mean vegeta did the same thing when he let babidi take over him just he could become stronger I’m not surprised that he used a machine to go ss4 after all vegeta in gt wasn’t the one from the Z he wasn’t prideful or overly obsessed with goku like he is in super in gt he became more of a family man.

Okay I'm going to start off by saying GT character is right off the bat or stronger than they were in super Goku being reverted to a kid yeah it did cut his power back some that I will admit he could not hold Super Saiyan 3 but you have to take into account that even GT Goku in his base after nearly 10 years years of training after Majin Buu and training Uub was vastly stronger than a Super Saiyan God and the steaks for his power only went up from there in GT think of it GT villains were far stronger than super villains GT was so op it was harboring on multi multi Universal Plus feet I mean we all know that beerus was the one that sealed Elder Kai within the Z sword so in turn Elder Kai said that Baby Vegeta was the strongest presence that he had ever felt that would have included beerus what you indicate that GT Goku would mop the floor would even a God of destruction without even trying all that much I don't know why fans have forgotten this fact order this trying to ignore it saiyan scholar goes more into it just how op Dragon Ball GT is I just think it's because fans see an alternate version of Goku who is not the same Goku that is in Dragon Ball Dragon Ball Z or Dragon Ball GT he exists in some separate dimension and giving him some new flashy colors they assume that super Goku could beat GT Goku when that would not be the case GT Goku is vastly stronger and more well-rounded martial artist and ask for super I will always consider it hey back to the future reference or it will never fit into the old Dragon Ball timeline because those old Dragon Ball timelines we're written in stone but I guess fans would have to watch The Flash series in order to get what I mean by it our watch the old back to the future movies to understand that Dragon Ball super is not a part of the original continuity is more like a movie that will never tie in it is its own universe in Dragon Ball Dragon Ball Z in GT are in their own universe and that's what many fans do not understand it would be the same as me writing a story and Publishing years ago in the '90s it and going back today and writing about the same thing and tweaking it it would not work because the original story has already been written and there's no changing that because it is not the same book to the only thing that I could do as a writer would be to put it in its own Universe different from the one that had been published before and I truly think that Dragon Ball super it's just a continuation of Dragon Ball Z abridged if you ever watched it because if you have warts Dragon Ball Z abridged they made an utter mockery out of Goku and the rest of the characters in Dragon Ball which a few moments in Dragon Ball super I seen the same mockery of characters Goku being dumb and just being a fighter who just solely likes to fight despite the consequences like it was betrayed in Dragon Ball Z abridged is of the same even though in Dragon Ball Dragon Ball Z and GT Goku was intelligent and yes he did make his mistakes at time but he generally had a good idea of the risk involved in fighting so I guess what I'm basically saying is that really don't put any value on Dragon Ball Z abridged or Dragon Ball super these shows through a monkey wrench in the Dragon Ball that busted the motor Dragon Ball Z a bridge made the monkey wrench and Dragon Ball super threw it into the motor but I do appreciate your your thoughts.

Yep in the half the fights people are struggling against Goku in his base and most people can't handle ssj4 so they have to give dumb reasons how the villain can overcome ssj4 ( like constantly fighting ki blasts at super 17 which he never does or making him blind )

@critchblackpoolful I can agree that super 17 Arc sucked 💀 However, goku in super never really used his full power in a lot of fights which could've wrapped up arcs much quicker, for example, he was so powerful that he could've just killed yoku black when he first met him. Making goku blind was a good tactic i think, I do personally think it was dumb that they didn't have him sense their ki but ig depending on the pain or what he got slashed with could've affected his concentration. Also, most people couldn't handle super saiyan blue. For example, goku vs frieza, he could've ended frieza much quicker instead of suddenly becoming much more cocky than he originally was? So that is a dumb reason they gave goku so he would get shot in the chest and have vegeta fight frieza next. Both had some dumb reasons, but super threw the power scaling way off with literal beings who can erase people from every timeline they've existed in and beings who can just straight up erase the entire multiverse lol. Plus 17 is super being on god level from fighting hunters, from space or not, that doesn't add up 💀

@@donninjagames130 you're spot on but with the FREIZA fight but he has valid reason and he could sense that FREIZAs ki was draining fast and he wanted to teach him a lesson Goku black got pulled back and it actually made it better because you thought Goku and Vegeta would win easily when they went to the future then all of sudden sssjrose But the power scaling in super is crazy I'm happy the side characters get their time to shine but there's a lot of ass pulls and 17 shouldn't be close to God level neither should Gohan or broly I just believe super did everything better other than ssj4
