This was the last recital the artist was to play at the Newport Music Festival.

I have all the Fiorentino recordings I could lay my hands on...and yet, I keep coming back to his videos despite the lower quality of the sound (but still perfectly enjoyable and kudos to Mr. Lumpe). And that 's because I like watching his hands. I am completely bewitched by his hands...Look at the way he sits at the piano, look at his hands...Sometimes I turn off the sound and just look at those hands and listen to the music that is not there...amazing and riveting...

This is a wonderful recital. I was listening to World Service in Gran Canaria when his sudden death was announced a day or two after it happened. A huge and sad loss to pianism.

I think I had all the LPs he made for Saga early in his career (including the one falsely issued as by Pouishnoff) They included, as I recall, Chopin's complete waltzes, and the Schumann Carnival and piano concerto.

Mein Gott! In Italia a Napoli c era questo uomo che riuniva con verità tecnica e semplicità la vecchia scuola e quella moderna.. e in quegli anni lo ignoravano e snobbavano per imporci i Pollini con le pestate cacofoniche della seconda scuola di Vienna e il Beethoven a metronomo, Canino e altri cani della scuola del brutto suono di Vitale e altri sponsorizzati dal partito...(anche Richter un Genio certo ma sempre spesso un nevrotico) Mentre musicisti come Nino Rota Rachmaninov Medtner venivano snobbati e ridicolizzati.Ma le bugie hanno le gambe corte come le mode.. Anche il grande Michelangeli é stato martirizzato da critici comunisti e giudici..del futuro Pd.ma dopo il 1989 tutte le bugie son cadute.! Lunga vita alla grande musica e ai grandi interpreti,le cui glorie imperture superano le materialistiche mode.Mentre di quei falsi profeti è ora ormai di demolire quel poco che resta come si è fatto con le statue e i Mausolei di Lenin e Stalin!

Che il pianismo di Fiorentino fosse di un livello assai superiore a quello dei Polllini, dei Canino e dei Vitaliani di ogni risma, non ci piove. Ma cosa c'entri il comunismo, i mausolei di Lenin e Stalin, addirittura il PD...temo che lei stia farneticando...
