Mike you may know this already but here is the numbers to find GPH & HP in your equipment. It takes 5 gallons of fuel to make 100 HP per hour. First to fine GPH: take HP divided by 100 times 5 GL. 500 HP /100 *5=25 GPH. Second to fine HP; take GPH divided by 5 then times 100. Here is an example of your 1050. 22 GPH/5*100 =440HP. This is a good thumb rule. I worked at a Cat Truck shop for 17 years.The new electronic engines we perform a PAR test if the customer is short on power to verify low HP. This gives you an idea on the performance of you equipment. Looks like the 1050 is short on fuel! All of these test are at full rated load max HP, not half throttle.
@mikemitchell2554
@mikemitchell2554 4 жыл бұрын
That's very interesting John, I didn't know that actually. 🤔🙂 I appreciate that rule of thumb... And that would be considered acurate even on theses new engines loaded with emissions crap as well as the older no emissions?
@johnlindquist6335
@johnlindquist6335 4 жыл бұрын
@@mikemitchell2554 Yes with new engines it's easy because of computer equipment on the engine. With the older non emission engines is little harder. If you have the HP number and the GPH you can work it out.

Be interesting to see how that holds up. From what I've heard, euro sprayers just aren't designed to spray at the speed that is common in NA. In my experience pull types are just too slow to keep up with a self propelled. It normally ties up another guy tending the machine, but a SP doing 20+ mph is going to outrun a pull type all day. And if you reallly needed to cover acres, you'd just have a modified TerraGator to spray low rate. You'd have a 2400 gal tank, stability to spray 24-25 mph, and a 45 mph road speed. Only issue is that you're stuck with big float tires.
@mikemitchell2554
@mikemitchell2554 4 жыл бұрын
Ahh.. Yeah, we don't spray that fast anymore, we used to do up to 18-19mph, but found that it's too hard on the sprayers - they get shook and we have to dump them a couple years sooner. Also, number 2, we found that our coverage was lacking.. So we have slowed down to 16-17 now and have seen an improvement in the application. 🙂
@jacobl1657
@jacobl1657 4 жыл бұрын
@@mikemitchell2554 Interesting, what kind of self propelled machines were you running? I saw you had Patriots. Those will get beat up pretty quick. Having solid mounted axles on that tubular frame does nothing for the ride or life of the machine when doing high speed application. Personally, I'd say the new RGCs are the best for faster running just from the suspension they have. Know multiple operators that consistently run 20 mph on pre-emerge and put 40-50k acres on the machine a year. For coverage, that's quite surprising that you'd see issues. Theoretically, you have the same amount of product being put out, regardless of speed. The only real difference would be boom stability and the extra wind speed. So unless you're running crazy high pressures, the only thing that could be affecting the machine would be the aim command system. Making sure your duty cycle is in the sweet spot (approx. 2/3) and that you're not over driving your tips are common issues if you do happen to see a lack of coverage.
@mikemitchell2554
@mikemitchell2554 4 жыл бұрын
@@jacobl1657 yes, we use the Case machines.. Around us, we get wind all the time, so 20-30km avg winds are not uncommon to spray in. Which makes spraying at high speeds tough. Also, we start leaving tracks because of the high amount of dust we leave. Typically we re very dry here

Hi Mike you should chop the 930's in for 1050's The 930 will struggle and isn't very reliable. Use the 1050 for spraying and the grain carts. Far better gearbox for that job than the 9RX. I'm not sure the 1050 will handle your seeder's tho? But would be a back up when you are busy. Get that shop built...🙈
@mikemitchell2554

Haha I appreciate that feed back, that ultimately would be the goal I think, but the 1050s run nearly double the $$$ and no they won't pull our big drills - about 150hp short.. So it's hard to justify those tractors because we can buy quad tracks with a 150hp more for the same price... 😬

You must be pretty displeased with the red self-propelled sprayers to go back to pull types !!! I'm not putting down pull type sprayers the trend just seems to be the other direction !Never even heard of this brand of sprayer , it looks like a monster though , European I assume ?? We need much more info when the season comes , kinda doubt they did a lot of testing with the sprayer in very deep snow !!! Your machinery line up in the snow is most impressive ! I've had those hydraulic tip handles ,they can help with leverage and getting the correct outlets if they are colored right ! You gotta work smarter not harder ,we need more content !!!! Hahahaha Thanks for bringing us what you can I find it very interesting !

Thanks Lee! Always appreciate ya!... We still have 2 Case SP but traded the 3rd one for two of theses Amazone Sprayers. New SPs have just been loosing touch with reality and their cost vs efficiency on my farm is also out of balance. Theses Amazones are 3200gal/132ft and with the Fendts I road them just as fast an SP. So on paper it's a in terms of cost it's a 2-1 On efficiency its a 2-1 to 3-1. So pay for one SP in cost MD get 2 to 3 SPs in efficiency. But I guess we ll see when the rubber meets the road here come spring. 🙂

@mikemitchell2554 4 жыл бұрын
Good question Jake, like anything what works for one farm might not for another but for us it's utilizing our tractors we have. For us we ll actually gain efficiency and lower our cost per acre. You can buy a 2 Amazones for the price of 1 SP unit and gain a minimum 1 to 1 ratio or at most a 2 to 1 ratio meaning pay the price of one SP and get 2 or 3 back in productivity. That's the long and short of it.

@@nickallan4051 that's a great question Nick! And that has a very long mathematical answer! 😂 But in short, we already have the Fendts for rolling, grain carting, and other farm applications so it's cheaper on that regard. Now you can buy 2 Amazones to 1 SP and on paper it works out to a 1 - 1 and if you could get up to that 12mph on the Fendt tractor and Amazone you can do a 2 - 1 each. = pay for one SP and get 3 SPs worth of efficiency. That's the long short of it haha..

Yes, shear volume and efficiency reasons are why.. When I get spraying with them, I ll let eveyone know how many acres I can cover at what speed compared to the SP units based off of each of their price tags. Right now, I can only do the math on paper and tell you that I can buy 2 Amazones for the price of 1 SP unit. And I can tell you that based off of a fill station being (x) amount of km away, and at (x) amount of speed (reason for (x) is I can't remember what figured off the top of my head here) but that I can get 2 and up to 3 SP units worth of efficiency for the price of 1.... So time will tell I guess, we ll see how well they work come spring. 🙂
