Now they just need to find a way to make this injection painless. I had it done "once" several months ago and OMG I have never experienced such a painful procedure. THINK: "Bite down on a piece of leather and scream your head off" type of pain. Yes, it worked and my thumb pain was gone within a couple days... however... I don't believe I could ever go thru the injection again regardless of how bad my thumb pain becomes. As the popular phrase goes.. in this case... "The cure is worse than the disease"

Wondering if anesthesia not sufficient, if the extensor tendon got dinged, and/or if a branch of the radial nerve was involved. TYpically not that painful. Everyone's different though.

100% agree. I just had my third in this exact joint, like an hour ago and it breathtakingly painful. Right up there with pancreatitis.

Did they use any topical skin spray? Freezing spray can help with injection discomfort.
