Getting caught in the rain splitting tree service wood. Trying to see if the splitter fuel cap will have a repeat issue?

Hey Todd, I really like your organization and attention to detail. Firewood split sizes are perfect - in my opinion!

Hello Bob! Well I do like a tidy woodyard with good looking stacks of splits. It’s a good sense of pride to stand back and look at what you have accomplished. You have to look at it a while so it might as well be neat and look good😂 We split small to cater to the bundle and recreational burners. My son Evan has done very well selling firewood and has learned more life lessons than he yet realizes! Thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment Bob👊🏻

Your OCD cracks me up 😂 everything is perfectly placed! The rain has been a nightmare here too. I have about 60 K worth of wood laying on the ground under tarps every other day it pours down here they can’t even get the house started.

Nice tree service load. Oily substance may be deteriorating rubber seal from cap. I have a mower doing that. I was hoping for a new splitter announcement lol.
@toddsoutsideagain3 ай бұрын
Yes it was a very clean beautiful load of tree service wood! I was thinking the worst 😂 I believe it’s the cap deterioration in process. I seen it in the video playback, as well as a couple subscribers commented on. My gas tank is pulsating, causing the gas when the tank is full to splash against that cap, therefore probably deteriorating the seal. New splitter would be a great fix😂 When the budget is right. I have two different splitters already picked out. Thanks for watching Heath👊🏻🇺🇸

Heck ya Todd an they brought it to ya . That’s truly free wood right there and it’s nice looking stuff . Next time they call tell ‘em to dump it right next to the cooler with a cold 6 pack in it for them . A good tree outfit will fill ya dooryard in no time for free beer . I honestly have no idea on the gas cap that was just odd . That rain you got just landed here but it’s supposed to be over a ft of snow for us .
@toddsoutsideagain3 ай бұрын
Now the beer cooler is an idea…🤔 …. Only problem is I wouldn’t get no work done cause I’d be drinking the beer.😂 it was brought to my attention from a couple commenters that my gas tank is pulsating, and I also caught it myself in the video playback. This usually always happens when the tank is full, so I’m betting the gas is splashing consistently into the cap eating it up. It’s been raining for three days here now. Going to try to get out and split some kindling or something here in a few minutes. Gotta get a little bit done everyday!! Thanks Phil👊🏻

Nice load of red oak! It's always nice when tree service will bring it to you. I wish I only had to split what you have left in the yard and on your trailer, lol. I've been overwhelmed with tree service wood this year. Most I've hauled to help them help me. 😁 I'm at least 30 6x12 dump trailer loads behind right now. When it's free I'll haul it even if it gets me behind on cutting and splitting. I've been splitting wood I cut back in January. 🤣🤣🤣

Whoa!! Well I’m glad to have this tree service guy reach out to me! Kinda puts the ball in my court. He is a small operation and he works alone. Perfect for me so I probably won’t be overwhelmed like you are. I have to stay on top of it or my head will explode 😂 Thanks for watching Robert👊🏻

@@toddsoutsideagain The tree service guy I get wood from doesn't do it full time. He and his brother mainly do landscaping and tree service when the jobs come. Until this year my dad has been getting most of the wood from him. I would get a load or 2 at a time based on space available at current home. End of last year we purchased a little over 10 acres, 8.5 cleared, and are building our home on it. Dad has been playing catchup this year so I have been getting 95% of the wood. Having a lot more space to stack logs, cut, split, and stack has increased my production and ability to stockpile logs this year compared to the last couple of years since I started doing firewood. 👍

Yeah I noticed it in the video playback! Then numerous people in the comments too. I’m betting it’s just a bad cap and the ethanol fuel isn’t helping!!! The seal in your gas cap has gone bad, replace it with a new gas cap and get back to splitting. 👍
@toddsoutsideagain3 ай бұрын
Yeah I believe the gas cap is bad. I believe it has been defective from the beginning. It has always been kinda hard to get threaded back on after filling the gas. I don’t know if ya caught it or not in the video but you can see the tank pulsating! It’s probably never vented right causing gas to continuously splash against the bottom of the cap eating it up. Ethanol is bad. Probably just order a new cap. It’s not hurting anything just making a mess😂 Thanks for watching and commenting 👊🏻

Ugly woos is usually the best burning wood. Dense crotch areas burn forever. The gas is just rinsing the deteriorating material off the cap. Replace it before you start getting bits in the Line/Filter/Carb.
@toddsoutsideagain3 ай бұрын
Yes I do sell all the ugly splits to people heating. They love it! Yeah I believe it has been a defective cap from the beginning. It’s not venting right and causing the tank to pulsate. You can see it in the video. Constantly splashing this bad ethanol gas which has destroyed the cap. Gonna get one on order Thanks for watching 👊🏻
@crxess3 ай бұрын
@@toddsoutsideagain I highly recommend finding a source for Non-Ethanol Gas. I have stopped using it in all my small engines and they are clearly better off for it. Chainsaws, Splitter, Mowers and snow blower no longer have Carb issues from water collecting in ethanol gas.

That is a big Ash round that we picked up on one of our first marketplace scores. I intend to make a table out of it someday?🤣 Yes I noticed when I watched the video back that the tank was pulsating!! I have heated with wood for decades and I never understood what every one on youtube likes about red oak other than it splits easy, it takes forever to dry out and maple or beech will build a much better bed of coals, here in western ny red oak is really hard to sell if its not mixed in with other hard wood at no more than 25 percent
@toddsoutsideagain3 ай бұрын
Yeah it’s location based for sure! We do not have beech here in southern Illinois and Oak is plentiful. I split it small and it is stored in full sun and we are getting it ready about a year. Depends on the year! We don’t get our hands on much hard maple either. Lotta wood snobs that think Oak is the only wood too. Look down the nose if you say Maple. Location is the key word.
