What was the point of using burnt wood if you just remove all trace of it? Looked good with the burnt patches before you ground them out.

@MosesOnAcid I agree, especially in the large gap. Sorry NDT but, to me at least. your circular ground out bits looked totally UNnatural. Would have looked much nicer left Black. Having said that, if you want to send it over to the UK, I'll pay the cost. LOL

Quite right, M.O.A. The original was much more interesting. It could have been made level in several different orientations as a table base, or left alone simply as an interesting object, indoors or out. “Less is more,” even during in reduction of an object. There is a reason art & craft aren’t the same.

@MendocinoButterfly11 ай бұрын
You destroyed the beauty of the wood when you gouged out the burnt areas. You could have just eased the edges of the burnt areas a bit to create smoother lines. Also the ‘design’ of your gouging was very poor. I’m sorry to be so mean, I don’t usually leave negative comments. You need to study art and design before you ruin any more material. Especially when you were brave enough to turn that stump, and managed a decently shaped vase-like object.

I would have left the black from the burn, just use a brush to remove any loose char or dust. Shellac would have brought all the colors out.
