Subscribed because of the double 2x4 exterior walls. The angle brace between the double wall is brilliant. I've seen plenty of double wall construction but none ever took advantage of the angle brace like in this video. Great job!

Double wall construction is great. Alaska in the 80's used this type of framing. 5 star rating in blower door tests. single stud install was used here in Oregon by one of my solo framers. works fine.

Did you stagger the wall framing to break thermal bridges?

Yes, I staggered the studs to prevent thermal bridging. I plan to make a video talking about that, but right now I am trying to get the building closed in before it snows.

The studs don't need to be staggered considering they're not touching each other on the exterior and interior of the double wall.

Solid blocking is not required when using I joists 😂

No, you're talking about the MINIMUM standard. This video construction is way above minimum code considering the double wall construction. Most building codes are extremely subpar which is done to make mass housing lower cost. It's perfectly fine to go above and beyond code, it only has to meet code or higher quality. Those added blocks are a higher quality build, they stabilize the floor better and also slow the fire down to allow longer escape times by not allowing the fire to span the entire length of the joist in seconds.
