A guy after my own heart, I’ve had my a black 02 RSV-R factory since 2004,so about 18years. In 2007 a car sitting at a red light pulled across into my green lit lane, I hit him at 15-20mph carnage ensued I lost a leg, spent near 5 months in hospital and 2 years in a wheelchair waiting for the leg to heal then learning to walk again. I repaired the very minimal damage while in the chair. I ride it with a thumb rear brake conversion as I’ve not right leg from the knee. I got paid comp in late 2010 so for Christmas I got myself my dream bike, it’s a red and silver 2007 MV Agusta F4 1000 312R, it a instant smile maker and when riding your always looking for more gears as 6th feels like your revving the guts in 3rd. I haven’t ridden them in 2 years due to back pain but that gone now so they’ll be on the road again soon.

So as an owner of four bikes myself I'm actually in the same position. I have a 2018 street triple RS, 2016 Tuono factory, 2016 Yamaha R3 track bike, and a 2018 KTM Duke 390. And I just started looking for a thruxton R. I say keep five for as long as you can. If you find yourself riding the Mille more then the F4 then your answer just revealed itself. The great thing about buying these bikes as you know, is that you're buying them at their lowest resale value. Or at least close to it. So you lose little to nothing from holding them for a little while. And even if you lose money I saw screw it. Passions aren't something you should try to be frugal with. When your on your deathbed and your running through the history of your life are you really gonna regret having bought a bike that inspired you?

Buying it as 5th bike and then deciding which one to let go is what my wife suggested too 😄. As I said in another comment, it isn't about the money; it's about having the time to rotate riding through 5 bikes. That Thruxton R is a very cool piece of modern-retro mashup tho. 👍🏼
@gonzo2215 жыл бұрын
@@ddumapias yup, I'm lucky in that my wife rides too so she's fine riding any of the bikes as well so they all get used. The only bad thing about having a wife that rides is that now I have two factor in twice the amount of money for every trackday we do, lol. But that's a great problem to have. 🤪

Thankfully I don't have the same problem with my wife. But when both my kids get older tho...

The mille is a bus. It's a lorry. It's heavy. It's hard to hustle along a country road. You need expensive tyres to get it anywhere near keeping up with a 2007 GSXR600. But I'm on my second. I love it's engine. The way it doesn't run like a Japanese bike. It's almost like a Guzzi in it's torque. I've had 50 bikes in my 35 years. It's the only bike I've gone back to and never selling again.

why not have them both? hell i have a small garage & have 7 bikes in it
@kevinchudy47315 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with 5, they are all different. Think about it. The vintage bike is well duh vintage, the track bike is your track bike and while the MV is also a 4cyl 1000 it is a street bike not track. I forget what your daily is. But the aprilia is an aprilia and it's a 1000 twin.

I considered the same: I could have a vtwin, triple, inline4, and a two-stroke bike in my gallery.

I cut out the part when I said it would make things easier if the bike sells to the next guy that was supposed to see it at after me that day. The seller texted me later that day saying the other guy flaked, so it's mine if I want it, that I can take my time deciding since he wasn't rushing to sell. So much for making things easy for me! 😄

If you have to choose between the two pick the one you will actually ride. If you’re gonna buy it just for it to sit and look pretty let the next guy buy it and enjoy it.
@ddumapias5 жыл бұрын
It isn't going to just sit around, but I wouldn't ride it any more than I ride the F4. I'd love to ride the F4 more to be honest, but time is a luxury for me lately, what with 4 bikes on rotation, and you know, real life. That's why sometimes I'll take the F4 once in awhile to work and also out on track on top of riding it on the street some weekends. Now imagine managing to rotate through 5 bikes...

My dream bike is the MV f4.. I owned this exact same 2003 Aprilia RSV back in 2005, I bought it brand new in the crate in 05. Even took the crate home with me.. It was a fun bike, but had a few electrical issues in the time I owned, ended up trading it in for a brand new 2005 Benelli Tornado TRE (great bike), another awesome bike.. Only reason I didn't buy a F4 instead, there were no dealerships anywhere even close by..

FWIW, the F4 was the easiest motorcycle I've worked on. It encourages you to DIY, even if you have a dealership nearby. 👍

I actually just sold the Triumph, but because it's my commute motorcycle and I no longer have a commute working from home for the foreseeable future. I could've held onto the Triumph, but I really don't like letting a bike sit without a purpose.

I'm looking at a 01 Mille now same color... $2200..6,400 miles owner says cranks runs good few minutes and will cut off. .. said shop assessed it needs fuel system work and injectors cleaned.. $800..lol... should I buy or run from it ? Also, it needs new tires front and back. .. what's it worth minimum in this manner? It's super clean too... What should I do? What's a good reasonable offer? thanks
@dennisdumapias44205 жыл бұрын
$1500 tops, assuming clean title.
@kennethjohnson62235 жыл бұрын
Dennis Dumapias I may go look at it in a few days and listen to it live... he originally was asking $2800 until he took it in for assessments finding $800 repair said rather drop price to $2200... it has been available 2 or 3 weeks.. it needs both new tires and I just didn't know how much to offer for it? I seen another one yellow version $1000... but couldn't ever get seller to respond. .ad said starter spins engine... but not starting? anyway he won't reply with my $1k cash in hand..lol.. but the black 01 RSV definitely is for sale but with mentioned issues about the fuel system. ... I heard a fuel pump is $700... valves probably needs adjusted too... as sorta common with Italian bikes... so you think $1500 tops is best this offer ? maybe I'll offer $1000 and go up to $1500

So, after 17 years without a scratch, sold the bike and within a couple of months received news that it's been totaled. The story goes that the buyer resold it to a friend who hit a coyote.

Both. I’ve been up to 8 bikes in the garage and it fluctuates. If I find I’m not using a bike, I sell it. Currently at 4 motorcycles. I’m sure it will go up again. (My wife is an enabler). You’ll regret not getting this Aprilia.

Sounds like you need a bigger garage. I'd say you need to try and ride the MV and RSV back to back and see which one stirs your soul. As with any older bike it may need some maintenance no matter how clean it looks. The main things would be brake lines, tires, all fluids, battery and maybe coolant hoses. The RSVs also have problems with melting connectors in the charging system.
