Thanks for covering this. Myself, I currently don't have maximum fan setting with that Climate Control Unit of my 1990 Dodge. Since it's a different part of the fan circuit, I'm going to try to repair the switch itself, since if I play with it, I can get it to work, a little. If I have to pull the unit, HOPEFULLY I won't have to pull the stereo: It's the newer generation of digital-only stereos - no DVD drive, etc., and only sticks into the dash about two inches.

GREAT content as always! I have learned more about my old Dodge watching your channel than I have the last 4 years of owning it. Keep recording EVERYTHING you do to them. Even beginner level stuff like brake pads, spark plug wires, etc. Selfishly, what about a BB hood and cowl swap? I have a MINT one sitting in the garage that I have not mustered up the courage to tackle yet. lol

Most of the time when these trucks have this problem is from the vacuum line junction. The rubber rectangular piece under the dash where all the lines plug into and out of. They dry rot and come apart. Look for that piece. I have had this problem and have had to swap and or join the lines together directly

Would you have a part number for the light bulb on the heater control/hvac back light? My truck just has a hole in the back where a light would go. Not sure if it’s just a twist in bulb replenishment bulb or if I should be looking for a wire and light behind the dash like the 4wd indicator light.

I noticed that you have two keys on your key ring. One is for unlocking and locking the doors and one is for actually starting the truck, if I am correct. Is this the same for your truck. My black key won’t start my truck, I have to use the other one. And the other key won’t unlock my doors. It seems that your setup might be opposite though. Just curious.
@decentgarage3 жыл бұрын
I actually am not sure haha. I figured they were both ignition keys. I check that out this week.
@kellymichael73623 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the ignition key assy on the column was replaced. It comes with new keys when you buy it. I've already had to replace mine twice. Short of having the new assy keyed at a locksmith, you'll have different keys for the truck. One to start it and one for the doors.

Under neath the glove box is a small yellow wire where does that go? Seen yours went from one part of the wiring harness towards the left side of the glove box into a plug near the right side. What does yellow wire do?

Hi! Love the videos! I got a question for ya, my heater in my 90 d350 doesn’t get burning hot. Some people said maybe the heater valve? But I might try and flush out the heater core and see if that helps any. As of now my heater only gets warm and mildly hot when the engine is 100% warmed up. What do you think? Thanks man! Keep up the awesome videos!!
@2eyedjack4334 жыл бұрын
I got the same problem with my 89. I taken out the core flushed it Booth ways until I got all the junk out. Its better but still not hot! I'm going to pull the line close to the water pump and have a look to make sure its not plugged. After that I dont have a clue.
@decentgarage4 жыл бұрын
Andrew and 2eyed Jack, My first step would be to make sure the thermostat is in working properly. Factory cummins thermostats open at 180*. If it is stuck open you will never get the coolant temp up hot enough for the heater to really get hot. I went with a thermostat that opens at 195* because I wanted my heater to work even better when I lived in Alaska. Have you both checked your thermostats. The easiest way to check is to pull it out and literally put it in a pot of water. Heat up the water and thermostat should open when the water gets to 180*.
