I could be mistaken but these jbl speakers your taking out have 3 different channels running to them, bass 2ohm, mid 4ohm and tweeter. To do this you need to be bypassing the factory Amp to make use of a single speaker. You can do this but it might not be optimized. For anyone reading this you can replace the 7" bass 2ohm with a 4 ohm bass and use a speaker adapter, it will work and leave the other speakers alone. The rear speakers in the JBL system are safe to swap as they are normal.

I would have bought replacement speakers, desoldered the wires from the old ones and just solder onto the new ones. Just need like for like speakers with same hole pattern and resistances.

Simply speakers makes a foam replacement kit for the factory speakers so you don’t have to butcher anything and not sacrifice volume.

I have a 00 tundra, I just bought all new speakers for it. I have 2 Rockford fosgates for the back and JBL speakers and tweeters for the front. How do you use the old speaker wiring/harness for the new speakers ?
@mcmillaproject3 жыл бұрын
Mine was pretty easy. The speakers actually came with a harness adapter all included from crutchfield.com. I guess you could either solder them or purchase similar wire connectors to what is on the adapter.

@@mcmillaproject thanks dude. I actually dug In to the back over the weekend and I was able to wire the back 2 directly to the 2 new speakers. I have a second order for the front speakers and tweeters coming from crutchfield also. I’m just not sure how the tweeter will get wired with the new speakers
@mcmillaproject3 жыл бұрын
@@GBall_Vision Is your tweeter in your a pillar? It seems that the tweeter usually requires more custom fab. not as easy to plug and play.
@GBall_Vision3 жыл бұрын
@@mcmillaproject I think I know what your saying, the tweeter is separate from the speaker unit. The tweeter is in the upper part of the door on the right and the speaker is at the bottom to the right. I want to say the tweeter is directly above the speaker. Maybe 18-24 inches My crutchfield order will be here today, I did order some speaker wire with Crutchfield’s input on how to run the crossover for the tweeter to the speaker. But I’m not sure on how to run the crossover exactly or what that entails

Do you know if the newer access cabs (04-06, or 05-06) have the same door speaker setup as the double cab? I'd love to have my speakers set-up like that in the front doors.

Great video! Question though - I'm looking to run this setup on mine but Crutchfield warns me that when you cut the wires on the factory harness for that midrange speaker that the new speaker is only pushing bass and no midrange frequencies. Have you noticed any lack in the sound at all on the new front speakers?
@mcmillaproject3 жыл бұрын
I would say there is more high end then I would like. I have the stock stereo on max bass to get some kick out of the low end. Really makes me want a sub.
@gregsz1ful2 жыл бұрын
You put drivers in an empty door panel, and it sounds like drivers in an empty door panel. Need sound absorbent and waterproof rear covers so sound does not echo around empty door space, producing midrange bloating.
@johnmoncivais91283 жыл бұрын
Is this true? "Replacing the low-impedance factory speaker with a 4-ohm aftermarket speaker will result in lower volume levels. The factory woofer in this location only receives bass frequencies from its amplifier. Replacement speakers will only reproduce bass"
@phslion2 жыл бұрын
Yes but is safe.
@OutNAboutWithBrad2 жыл бұрын
You lose power to the speaker by running a 4 ohm speaker, which means you lose volume and bass.

OMG!!!! why on earth did you butcher your wiring for some cheap speakers man? YOU COULD HAVE "RETAINED" the COMPONENT speaker setup very easily and added a 300w XED 6.5 CERWIN VEGA set on EBAY ($60 tops with free shipping), this would have been an easy replacement. Ebay even has the SPEAKER MOUNT ADAPTER PLATE to allow for you to mount the component set in THE STOCK LOCATION. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🥶🥶 Omg this hurts just watching....

The adapter plate I bought (off EBAY TOO) BOLTED right up to the rear door location as well (I have the double cab model) and now have a full range 6.5 component speakers in all doors.... sounds frikin awesome. I'm still using the JBL amplified system, rear doors are running with the CROSSOVER purchased w the component set, and THE FRONT DOORS are utilizing the stock wiring harness WITHOUT CROSS-OVER (because it's NOT NEEDED OBVIOUSLY).
