This is specifically geared for entry level HVAC positions. This should not be used for experienced techs or other professions as it does not apply.
The resume DOES NOT get you a job, its only a tool to assist you.
If you want to get started and learn on the job, learned online, still in school or just graduated this is for you.
DO NOT WAIT until you graduate to start looking for a job. its much much better to start while you are still in school. Its part of immersive learning, the more you are seeing hearing touching the better you will be. Applying what your learning to the field is very beneficial.
Dont wat to watch, no problem, here is the key points:
Name, address and phone number, but no pictures.
Email, (make sure its going to be appropriate for work)
Optional objective , its really dated but can be handy for entry level position's. I want to apply what I leaned to start my career off with a solid foundation. With time, skills and knowledge I want to become a lead service technician.
Keeps kills off as its misleading and takes up space. Too many people just pick skills when they dont apply. Word your skills in with previous jobs experience
Certification and Education. These can be separate or together depending on how much you have.
List schooling if any your EPA certification and any other certification you have. Also list any other learning you have or currently attending.
Job history with dates and job titles.
Under the job list any accomplishments first, and anything that can be related to HVAC. Customer service, mechanical aptitude things, hot or cold environments, overcoming challenges, working with technology, problem solving or anything else.
If you have relatable hobbies this can be valuable. Examples are things that show mechanical aptitude, working with tools, your hands, making things, repairing things. all of these can show extra value to yourself.
There is no perfect resume, every employer looks for something different. you can ask 10 people how to make a resume and get 10 different answers. it is important to note that the advice here does not apply to other jobs or experienced techs. as your kills grow what an employer is looking for will also change. this is just a starting point.
