Amy joins me as I take my first look at the beast that is the Parkray Aspect 14. I actually have both the standard 14 and the boiler version to play with, it's big, heavy and looks good, so I'm pretty excited!
Let us know what you think in the comments, and if you have any questions just drop a comment!

Definitely need a couple of retaining bars to stop logs tumbling forward, especially during start up.

Years ago we had a Spencer Sherwood stove with a door hinged at the bottom, so any embers that fell when opening, landed on the glass door rather than falling on the floor - always seemed eminently sensible, yet don't think I've ever seen any other stove with such a door.

The trouble with these is that you would often find you couldn't close the door without running your finger along the hinge to clear it.

Definitely in Amy’s corner, it definitely needs a rail at the front to retain the logs, looking forward to see this big bad boy 🔥 14kw is going to be insane!! 😂 Kind regards Tony PS: Amy, how dare you get up!!!! 😂🤣

It is definitely the beast. I've been playing with the Reco-Heat with it too.

I'm surprised there aren't more boiler stoves, heats going to waste, my esse does central heating as well, I've also put an old style back boiler, basically an iron box in my open fire, together they do the whole house, I had gas taken out. The esse range cooker does heating, water, hotplate, oven.

That's awesome. I'm keen to give an Esse a try at some point.

We have a recoheat on a stove that's in a chimney breast , its very good at getting the heat into all 4 corners of the room so we have uniform heat in the room and use less fuel . It does make a low hissing noise as the air heats up especially if you sit directly in front of the output pipe. You can of course turn it off when the rooms up to heat.

In my opinion that will spill when you refuel,it should have had a 6 inch spigot as standard but on very tall straight flues they could supply a reducing adapter like woodwarm will,as your wife said it also needs greater depth of ash and a log guard,personally I feel on a vermiculite baffle of that size it should have stainless or just steel bar bolted through and a push on bullnose at the front to strengthen the baffle,dont fire that up with blanks in the boiler outlets or it could go bang,

Certainly should make you sweat a bit 😂 and agree think it needs a higher log retainer to protect the glass but we will see with your review 🔥

Question for you - on my parkray aspect 5 do I need a layer of ash on the bottom? It has vermiculite on the bottom so is it necessary for efficiency?
@TheTortoise
@TheTortoise 5 ай бұрын
The ;ayer of ash is always a good idea as it slows the burn down. Particularly if you ever want to leave it for longer periods you'll definitely want a good bed in there.
