Going forward I think the industry standard on wood stove measurements should be on the age of the child that fits inside the box.

haha - it is big. I had no other great idea to show just how big it is inside. Banana for scale doesnt quite cut it !

I have just installed one, there isn’t much draw and the smoke does spill a little.
@NannyAndJack
@NannyAndJack 5 ай бұрын
you're probably doing something wrong. To create a positive draw, it's all about time, temperature and turbulence. Two logs on the bottom, good stack of kindling. Door slightly ajar until logs are alight and then another log on top to create a sandwich. You need enough updraught / patience / time to heat the chimney to get the whole thing to pull.

Just discovered your channel, liked and subscribed, can we have more fire lighting reviews please ? they are really interesting to watch and somehow make you feel warmer when it's currently -6 here in England, I also like how if a fire doesn't quiet make your grade you won't sell it in your shop, that's just what I'd do if I owned a shop, I couldn't sell something that I thought was crap.

This video was so informative. I saw a picture of this stove and then found this video. I live in the US in an old converted garage building. I am burning a huge old stove and want to up grade to something more clean burning. This would be perfect. Do you know if it's possible to get in the US? Thank you for your video.

I'm interested in the Parkray Aspect 5. Do you have a review or any advice, please?
@naturalheatinghellfirepizza

Not much to tell you really. All the Parkray aspects run much the same.. just different physical sizes. I stock all of them I think aspect 4, 4 compact, 5, 5 compact, 6, 7, 8 and 14… just not the 14 boiler stove

@naturalheatinghellfirepizza would you say in your experience that they are good stove? The reason I ask is I have a multi burner at the moment and want to change it for a wood burner. The firebox on mine is very small and limiting, and I don't want to make any mistakes this time. The chimney liner is already in place, so I'm hoping I can just buy a new stove and maybe a new flu if I can't use the old I have?

@@sharonjones6740 you would be best advised to go and look at them in the flesh where possible. I think I've got all the models here should you like to come and look. They are a good range of stoves... but it's kind of like buying a pair of shoes. JUst because you are a size 6 doesn't mean every pair of size 6 will fit.... or meet your budget.... or do the job .... such as running a race in high heels. To just swap out existing stove for a new one MAY be possible. Only person likley to do that for you is the original installer. No other installer will want to be liable for another installer's work. Hope that helps.

Why is overnight burning not possible? This unit is a beauty but no overnight burns is a deal breaker!
@MP-po6fj
@MP-po6fj Жыл бұрын
Yeah if it was a back boiler unit you would like to think you could burn overnight and hot water would be on tap then for a bath in the morning first thing
@NannyAndJack
@NannyAndJack Жыл бұрын
@@MP-po6fj this is not the boiler stove. Also, new type lower carbon emission stoves are designed to burn cleaner / faster / hotter and on far far less fuel. It's chucking out heat inside 10mins from cold. You go to bed... go to sleep. IT's so quick to light from scratch and so cleaner burning, there is little to no point to burning overnight

I have the next one down, the Aspect 8, and if filled twice in the morning and turned right down it goes all day. I make it up at about 5 in the afternoon and again about 8pm. This is shut down tight when roaring and will go through the night. Well pleased with it. I would love to have a play for a week with the 14 and see what it will do, but my house just wouldn't take the heat.

I have this stove and i do turn it all down at night and in the morning the fire is still smouldering. You can vent it at the rear if you got a cellar. The burn lasts ages, i’m impressed.

What is the minimum air circulation around the stove needed? We have a 72cm opening at the moment on a 1840 sandstone house that we are trying to keep warm Woodpecker 5 plus not cutting it
@zaf9834
@zaf9834 Жыл бұрын
The more the better, 72cm won’t cut it you need like 350 ish each side i’d say if your sides are non combustable.

If you are still looking for a bigger stove you could look at the Jotul 602. It's narrow but deep. Gives about8.5kw. The other option, if your room is big enough, is to bring the stove out further by blanking off the fireplace and extending the hearth. Opens up the field.
@NannyAndJack
@NannyAndJack 5 ай бұрын
A wooddpecker is a good little budget stove ..... but it is a basic budget model. Your fireplace is too small for a beast like this. It's for big spaces. Something like a Clock Blithfield 5 / Aspect 5 would be better

I find you need to let children dry out properly for a couple of years first, otherwise, they're hard to light and make far too much smoke.

I have just got a Hunter Aspect 4 and just lit it 4 times but I think I must of over fired it as the paint has gone grey. now wiped it down yet any tips what I can do and should I get a stove thermometer
@NannyAndJack
@NannyAndJack Жыл бұрын
when you wipe down a stove with a damp cloth, it will grey out the paint. Stove paint will fade with heat. Depends how light coloured it is... I don't think you'll have damaged it in 4 burns. I'd hope not ! You could spray it - but If you have used a cloth on it with silicones / furninture polish... respray will likely not work nicely as would react. Otherwise, I like Gallery Polish... but it will stink as it bakes on

modern stoves are designed to heat up fast and burn clean / burn all the carbon off. Burning low and slow makes carbon and the thing we all really need to stop. Burn with a rolling flame to keep everything clean and reload as little as is needed for heat you need out on a more regular basis for best perfomance. Yes - you can load up and turn down - but that's how you smoke stuff up and don't get the clean burn etc. Visit your local stove shop and worth learning Burn all day yes - but regular reloads is much better.
