This is where competing drum and bugle corps and bands are alike. The rehearsals (practice), drill techniques, competition adjudication are just about the same. This video, and others like it, have made me a marching band lover.

Thank you for posting this important documentary of American marching band history. I would love to get some DVDs of the older MBA competitions--especially the ones featuring the MBA bands from Mississippi. Pearl, Grenada, and Kos, of course, come to mind, but there might be others. Thanks again!

Bands are more "Drum Corps" than DCI these days.

Hello Larry! Thanks for posting this. I don't know if you remember me but I was one of the first SWAG team member in 1980 and 81 for Bands of America at Whitewater! I was also a sophomore in the Oskaloosa High School band and we marched the finals in 1976, 77, and 78! Wow, do I have such amazing memories of that time. To top it off you have a shot of not only some of our band but of me at 6:23! I thought all this footage was lost. Would there happen to be any more footage of the Oskaloosa performance that night? Or of 77 or 78?
